These controls concern Amazon’s account-level product-view list. They are separate from the history saved by a web browser or Fire tablet’s Silk browser, Alexa interaction history, and your order history. The exact menu placement can vary by country storefront, account layout, website redesign, or app version, but the action names are the useful landmarks.

What Amazon browsing history contains
Amazon browsing history is the product-view list associated with an Amazon account. It can help you return to items you recently opened and may influence the recommendations or recently viewed section shown while you shop. The list is tied to the account that was active when you viewed the product, not necessarily to every device used in your household.
The page is not a universal record of everything Amazon stores about you. Amazon describes purchase history, content-use history and other account information separately in its Privacy Notice. Removing products from the displayed browsing-history list therefore should not be described as deleting an order or erasing every copy of related data held by Amazon.

Before you change anything
Decide which result you need. Removing one product preserves the rest of the list. Removing all items clears what the page displays. Turning browsing history off changes whether future views are recorded by this feature, but it does not clear existing entries. If you need to erase pages visited on a device, you may instead be looking for a browser-history control. If you need to review voice requests, use Alexa’s history controls.
- Have the sign-in details for the Amazon account whose list you want to manage.
- Check the account name before removing anything, particularly on a shared computer, tablet, or phone.
- Use a current signed-in web browser if the mobile app does not show the relevant controls.
- Do not assume that clearing one history surface changes another one.
Open and view the list
On the Amazon website
- Sign in to the Amazon account whose history you want to inspect. If several people use the same device, confirm that the active account is the correct one.
- Open Your Browsing History. The page displays products that Amazon has placed in that account’s browsing-history list.
- Scroll through the displayed products, or use the page’s available controls to locate an item.
The labels above are documented in an Amazon staff answer dated December 4, 2020. Amazon can change navigation, wording and page placement by storefront, account layout or app version, so a current page may look different even when the controls perform the same functions.
If you are using the Amazon app
Do not assume that every mobile app release exposes the same path as the desktop website. Look for a shopping or account area containing Browsing History or Your Browsing History. If the control is not visible, open Amazon in a desktop browser or the browser’s desktop-site view and sign in to the same account. The documented action names, rather than a particular mobile menu, are the reliable guide.
Confirm that you are viewing the right account
A product viewed while signed in to one account will not necessarily appear when you switch to another account. On a family device, verify the account avatar, email address, or account menu before you interpret a missing item as deleted. A signed-out visit can also produce a different result from a visit made while signed in. If the list seems unfamiliar, sign out and sign back in to the intended account before changing entries.
Remove one product from the displayed history
Use this when you want to keep other recently viewed products visible.
- Open Your Browsing History while signed in to the correct account.
- Find the product you no longer want listed.
- Choose Remove from view beneath that product.
The command removes that product from the browsing-history list shown on the page. It is a list-management control; the available documentation does not establish that it removes order records, reviews, recommendations, advertising information or every internal record associated with the product.
If several versions of an item appear, inspect each displayed card. The documented control applies to the product card beneath which you select it; do not assume that removing one card removes every related listing, search, or recommendation.

To empty the list in one operation:
- Open Your Browsing History.
- Select Manage history.
- Choose Remove all items from view.
- Return to the history view and check that the displayed list is empty or has been reduced as expected.
Remove all items from view applies to the products displayed in this browsing-history feature. It is not a command to delete your Amazon orders or all personal information held under the account. If another person later views products while signed in to the same account and the recording switch is on, new items can appear again.
Clearing the list is different from deleting a product from a wish list, cart, or order. Those areas have their own controls and records. A product can disappear from browsing history while remaining in one of those other places.

Stop Amazon from recording future product views
Clearing the current list and stopping new entries are two different actions. To change the recording setting:
- Open Your Browsing History.
- Select Manage history.
- Use Turn Browsing History on/off to switch the feature off.
Turning browsing history off controls future recording in this feature. It does not, by itself, remove products already displayed; use Remove from view for an individual item or Remove all items from view for the displayed list.
If you want both outcomes, first use Remove all items from view, then switch the recording control off. If you only switch it off, an old list can remain visible. If you later turn the feature back on, Amazon may again record product views under the account. The exact appearance of the switch can differ between storefronts and software versions.
Browse without linking activity to an account
Amazon’s Privacy Notice describes a separate approach for browsing without linking browsing history to an account:
“If you want to browse our websites without linking the browsing history to your account, you may do so by signing out of your account and blocking cookies on your browser.”
This is a privacy trade-off, not an alternative button inside Manage history. Signing out prevents the session from being associated with a signed-in account, while blocking cookies limits the browser data Amazon can use to recognize the session. Amazon warns that rejecting cookies can interfere with features such as the shopping cart, checkout and services that require sign-in. You may therefore need to allow cookies and sign in again when you want to use those functions.
Cookie blocking also does not retroactively erase products already shown in an account’s browsing-history page. If your goal is to clear that list, use the account-level removal controls. Conversely, clearing the account list does not clear cookies or local pages saved by the browser.
Know which history you are trying to erase
Amazon uses similar language for several kinds of activity. Use the surface that matches your goal:
| History surface | Where it is managed | What the control affects |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon account browsing history | Your Browsing History and Manage history | Products displayed in the account’s product-view list, plus the setting that records future views in that feature. |
| Silk browser history | Silk browser controls on the Fire tablet | Pages recorded locally by Silk. Amazon says this history can be viewed, searched and cleared in Silk; pages opened in a Private Browsing tab are removed from Silk history after the tab closes. |
| Alexa history | Review Alexa History | Alexa interactions, including shopping conversations. This is separate from the Amazon.com product-view list. |
| Orders and broader account data | Amazon’s order-history and privacy processes | Purchases and other information governed by separate records and data-rights options; the browsing-history page is not a general deletion request. |
Amazon account history versus Silk history
Silk’s history is stored locally on the Fire tablet. Amazon says it can be viewed, searched, and cleared within Silk. Closing a Silk Private Browsing tab removes pages viewed in that tab from Silk history. None of those browser actions is the same as selecting Remove from view on the Amazon account page, and changing the account page does not automatically clear Silk’s local records.

Amazon account history versus Alexa history
Alexa interactions, including shopping conversations, are reviewed through Review Alexa History. If your concern is something you said to Alexa, opening Your Browsing History will not show or remove that interaction. Manage the two surfaces independently.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhat the browsing-history controls do not establish
- They do not prove an order was deleted. Orders are a separate history surface.
- They do not prove every Amazon-held record was erased. Amazon’s Privacy Notice discusses purchase, content-use and other collected information separately.
- They do not clear your browser’s local history. Chrome, Safari, Firefox and other browsers retain their own records until you clear them using their respective settings.
- They do not clear Silk or Alexa history. Those services have separate controls.
- They do not provide consequence-free anonymous shopping. Signing out and blocking cookies can affect cart, checkout and sign-in-dependent features.
- They do not necessarily remove personalization immediately. A recommendation, search suggestion, or advertisement can rely on information governed by a different setting or record.
For requests that extend beyond the product-view list, consult Amazon’s current privacy options for the applicable access or deletion process. The availability and scope of those rights can depend on the account, service and jurisdiction.
Troubleshoot common problems
The product is still listed after I turned browsing history off
This is expected if you only changed the recording switch. Turning the feature off and removing existing entries are separate controls. Open Manage history and use Remove all items from view, or remove the individual product with Remove from view.
I cannot find a product to remove
First confirm that you are signed in to the account that viewed it. A different account, a signed-out session and a product that is no longer in the displayed list can all produce a different result. Also check that you are looking at Amazon’s account page rather than the browser’s local history or Silk history.
The menu names do not match
Amazon can change labels and placement across country storefronts, account layouts, app releases and website redesigns. Look for the equivalent Browsing History page and a management option containing the individual removal, all-items removal and on/off controls. If the app does not expose them, try a signed-in desktop browser.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
I cleared Amazon’s list but still see related suggestions
The browsing-history page controls the displayed product-view list. Amazon’s Privacy Notice describes other data uses separately, so recommendations, search suggestions, advertising or other personalization should not be treated as proof that the list-clearing command failed or as evidence that every related record was deleted.
I blocked cookies and now shopping features fail
Amazon specifically warns that rejecting cookies can prevent use of the cart, checkout and services requiring sign-in. Allow the cookies needed for those features, then sign in again. If your priority is simply to remove products from the account list, use the account-history controls instead of changing all browser cookies.
The list changed after another person used the device
Check which Amazon account was active during both sessions. A shared device can display different account-level lists after an account switch, while local browser or Silk records can contain pages from multiple users. Sign out of the unwanted account, sign in to the intended one, and then use its Your Browsing History page.
I want to remove only one item, but the page offers a bulk action
Do not choose Remove all items from view if you want to preserve the rest of the list. Return to the individual product card and select Remove from view beneath that product. If the card is not present, verify the account and history surface before taking a broader action.

Frequently asked questions
Does turning off Amazon browsing history delete what is already there?
No. Turn Browsing History on/off controls future recording in this feature. Existing displayed products remain until you remove them individually with Remove from view or use Remove all items from view.
Can I delete just one viewed product?
Yes. Open Your Browsing History, locate the product card, and select Remove from view beneath it. This is the documented individual-item control and does not ask you to clear the rest of the displayed list.
What does “Remove all items from view” remove?
It removes the products currently displayed in Amazon’s account browsing-history feature. It does not establish that Amazon deleted orders, Alexa interactions, Silk history, browser history, or every internal record associated with those products.
Will clearing browsing history cancel an order?
No. Orders are managed through a separate order-history surface. Removing a product from the browsing-history list does not cancel, hide, or delete a purchase record.
Why can I still see a product recommendation after clearing the list?
The browsing-history controls address the displayed product-view list. Amazon describes recommendations, advertising, purchase history, content use, and other collected information separately. A remaining suggestion is therefore not proof that the list-clearing action failed.
Does clearing Amazon history clear Chrome, Safari, or Firefox?
No. Those browsers keep their own local records. Use the browser’s own history settings if you want to clear pages stored on that device. That action is separate from Amazon’s account-level product list.
How do I clear history on a Fire tablet?
First identify which history you mean. For the Amazon account list, use Your Browsing History and Manage history. For pages stored by the Silk browser, use Silk’s local history controls. Amazon says Silk history can be viewed, searched, and cleared there, and pages in a Private Browsing tab are removed after the tab closes.
How do I remove Alexa shopping conversations?
Use the Review Alexa History page. Alexa interactions, including shopping conversations, are separate from the Amazon.com product-view list, so removing an item from Your Browsing History will not manage those recordings.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Can I shop privately without signing in?
Amazon’s Privacy Notice says you may browse without linking browsing history to an account by signing out and blocking browser cookies. Amazon also warns that rejecting cookies can interfere with the cart, checkout, and services requiring sign-in. This approach is therefore a trade-off, not a replacement for clearing the account list.
Best Value
Why is the browsing-history option missing in my app?
Amazon changes menu placement across app releases, storefronts, and account layouts. Search the account or shopping area for Browsing History. If the control is not exposed, open Amazon in a desktop browser or desktop-site view and sign in to the same account.
Does Amazon keep any information after I clear the displayed list?
The page controls the displayed browsing-history list. Amazon’s Privacy Notice discusses purchase history, content-use history, and other information separately, so clearing this list should not be represented as a deletion of every Amazon-held record. Broader requests use Amazon’s applicable privacy process.
Bottom line for managing Amazon browsing history
Use Remove from view for one displayed product, Manage history → Remove all items from view for the displayed list, and Turn Browsing History on/off to control future recording. Keep those account controls separate from Silk’s local browser history, Alexa interactions, orders and Amazon’s broader privacy processes. If you choose to sign out and block cookies instead, remember Amazon’s warning that cart, checkout and sign-in-dependent features may be affected.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does turning off Amazon browsing history delete existing entries?
No. Turning the feature off controls future recording. Remove existing entries with Remove from view or Remove all items from view.
Can I remove one product without clearing the whole list?
Yes. Open Your Browsing History, find the product, and choose Remove from view beneath it.
Does clearing browsing history delete my orders?
No. Orders are managed separately. The browsing-history controls do not cancel or delete order records.
Why do recommendations remain after I clear the list?
Amazon describes recommendations, advertising, purchase history, and other information separately. A remaining suggestion does not prove that clearing the displayed list failed.
