There is no India-specific YouTube ingest URL in the official setup instructions cited here. Get the current URL and stream key from the stream’s settings in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, configure your encoder for the matching protocol, then verify the connection from the Indian data center by checking the Live Control Room preview and stream health.
Get the URL for the specific stream
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live and open the stream’s Stream settings in Live Control Room.
- Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream into the corresponding encoder fields. They are separate inputs in the standard RTMP/RTMPS workflow. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it in logs, screenshots, or examples.
- Do not hard-code a presumed regional hostname. Use the URL currently displayed for the stream. YouTube’s instructions describe retrieving these settings in Manage live stream settings and Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
Match the URL to the ingest protocol
RTMPS
RTMPS is RTMP over TLS/SSL. Live Control Room may initially show an ordinary RTMP URL; select its lock icon to reveal the RTMPS URL, then copy it and set the encoder to RTMPS. Confirm the copied URL uses the secure protocol and that the encoder supports it. See YouTube’s RTMPS setup instructions.

If the connection fails with an SSL or timeout error despite a correct-looking URL, check the protocol, host, and encoder support. YouTube’s documented troubleshooting also suggests trying port 443. Do not substitute a guessed India-region hostname.
HLS
For HLS, select or create a stream key configured for the HLS protocol. Live Control Room then supplies an HTTPS URL; copy that generated URL rather than using the RTMP/RTMPS address. In YouTube’s HLS workflow, the stream key is part of the generated URL, unlike the usual separate URL-and-key inputs.

- Validate 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz Wireless Networks - Bring every predictive Wi-Fi network to life with validation and visualization designed for any dual or tri-band network.
- Unrivaled Speed and Accuracy - Capture the clearest picture of your Wi-Fi performance with 4 tri-band radios and a spectrum analyzer that scans at 50 sweeps/second.
- Get it Right the First Time - Save time and money by getting AP placement right the first time and address Wi-Fi issues before they lead to costly outages.
The encoder must support YouTube’s HLS requirements: TS segments of 1–4 seconds, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, and HTTPS POST/PUT. YouTube says HLS has higher latency than RTMP because it sends segments rather than a continuous stream; shorter segments within the supported range reduce latency. Consult Set up an HLS stream for protocol-specific configuration.
Verify from the Indian data center
- Deploy or run the encoder in the actual target environment. A URL that looks valid does not establish that the server can reach YouTube’s ingest endpoint.
- Start the encoder with the copied URL and the correct key or HLS configuration.
- Open the stream in Live Control Room and confirm that its preview receives the video and audio.
- Read the stream-health indicator and any error text. Confirm the connection and format/configuration are accepted before relying on the stream. YouTube recommends testing before an event and monitoring health; see its encoder setup guidance and live streaming error messages.
This tests reachability and ingest behavior from your deployed server, not whether Indian hosting is inherently faster or better. The cited YouTube instructions do not rank India-based routes or describe a special India-only URL. Compare routes only with measurements from the provider and network you actually use.

Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Checks and fixes |
|---|---|
| SSL error or connection timeout | Verify that the URL and encoder both use RTMPS, check the copied host, and confirm encoder support. In the documented SSL troubleshooting case, YouTube suggests trying port 443. Do not guess a regional host. |
| Encoder cannot start or authenticate | Copy the stream key again from the correct stream’s Live Control Room settings and update the encoder. Keep the key out of public logs and screenshots. See Troubleshoot your YouTube live stream. |
| Connected, but stream health is poor or no preview appears | Read the exact Live Control Room health message, then check that the selected URL, key, protocol, and encoder settings agree. Use YouTube’s error-message guidance to identify format or configuration problems. |
| HLS works but feels delayed | HLS has higher latency than RTMP in YouTube’s guidance. If the encoder allows it, reduce segment duration while keeping it within the supported 1–4 second range. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep prerecorded video playing on a YouTube channel continuously, StreamNeo is an alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The stream runs from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Every slot supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos; it does not go live from a camera. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
