To magnify your iPhone screen, open Settings > Accessibility > Zoom, turn on Zoom, and adjust Maximum Zoom Level to set how far it can magnify. Once enabled, double-tap with three fingers to turn Zoom on or off; use a three-finger double-tap-and-drag gesture to change the current magnification.
Turn on Zoom and set its maximum level
- Open Settings.
- Tap Accessibility, then Zoom.
- Turn on Zoom.
- Drag the Maximum Zoom Level slider to set the magnification ceiling.
The maximum level sets the upper limit, not the magnification currently in use. Adjust the active zoom separately with the gestures below. Apple’s guide identifies the slider but does not specify a numeric range. Apple’s iPhone Zoom guide also lists options such as Zoom Region, Zoom Filter, Follow Focus, Smart Typing, and Zoom Controller.

Turn Zoom on or off and adjust magnification
- Toggle Zoom: Double-tap the screen with three fingers.
- Change magnification: Double-tap with three fingers, then keep them on the screen after the second tap and drag up or down.
- Open the Zoom menu: Triple-tap with three fingers. Use the menu’s Zoom Level slider to adjust magnification or choose other Zoom controls.
- Use the Zoom Controller: If enabled, tap it to open its menu, double-tap it to zoom in or out, or drag it to pan while zoomed.
If you prefer a shortcut, add Zoom under Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut. Once assigned, the shortcut can toggle Zoom. Apple’s guide explains the gestures and controller options.

Choose Full Screen Zoom or Window Zoom

To select a region, triple-tap with three fingers and use the Zoom menu. The same menu includes filters such as Inverted, Grayscale, Grayscale Inverted, and Low Light. Follow Focus tracks selections and text insertion; Smart Typing switches to Window Zoom when a keyboard appears. Apple also lists keyboard shortcuts for an external keyboard and pointer options for controlling pan behavior or scaling the pointer with Zoom. Zoom, Display Zoom, or Magnifier?

Choose Accessibility Zoom when you want to magnify screen content temporarily and move around it. Display Zoom changes the overall interface size instead. Magnifier is for nearby real-world objects, not enlarging the iPhone’s displayed interface. Apple explains Zoom, Display Zoom, and vision accessibility features separately.
Turn off Zoom if the Home Screen is too magnified
First try double-tapping with three fingers to zoom back out. Then turn the feature off at Settings > Accessibility > Zoom.

- Connect the iPhone to a computer.
- On macOS Catalina or later, open Finder. On an earlier macOS version or a PC, open iTunes.
- Select the iPhone and choose Configure Accessibility.
- Deselect Zoom and confirm.
