The driver only configures the tablet. It does not draw anything, so you also need a separate drawing or office application before the tablet is useful for art or handwriting.
Before you start
- A computer with a supported operating system. UGEE lists Windows 7 or later, macOS (Mac OS X) 10.10 or later, Chrome OS 88 or later, and Linux as compatible.
- The right model name. UGEE’s M708 download page currently labels the product as M708 V3 and offers separate packages for each operating system. Check that the model shown on the download page matches your tablet before you install anything.
- A drawing or office application. UGEE states that a drawing program or office software, such as Photoshop or OneNote, is required in addition to the driver.
Setup in order
- Connect the tablet by USB. UGEE’s setup instructions read: “Connect the M708 tablet to your computer via the USB Cable.” Use the cable in the box and plug it directly into a computer port.
- Download the driver. Open UGEE’s support download page for the M708, choose the package for your operating system, and download it. Package versions change over time, so use the version currently listed on that page rather than an older file you may have saved.
- Install the driver. Run the installer and follow its prompts. Installing the driver is a separate step from installing a drawing application.
- Open the UGEE driver and confirm detection. With the tablet connected, the device should appear in the driver. If it does not, go to the troubleshooting section below before going further.
- Set pen pressure in the driver. Use the pressure test area and pressure curve to make light and firm strokes feel right, as described below.
- Test in your drawing application. Draw a few strokes in the program you plan to use. If the result differs from the driver test, the app’s own pen settings or the driver configuration for that app is the next thing to check.

Pressure curve and test area
UGEE’s driver manual documents a pressure curve and a test area. Draw several strokes in the test box, varying from light to firm. If the line responds too abruptly or feels too soft under the nib, adjust the curve or sensitivity setting, draw the same test again, and then repeat the check in your drawing application. Pressure feel is a matter of personal preference, so there is no single correct curve.

Windows Ink and handwriting
The driver manual states: “Windows supports handwriting function. If you need to use this function in Microsoft Office/Whiteboard or other software, please do not turn it off.” Leave Windows Ink enabled if you plan to write by hand in Microsoft Office, Whiteboard, or similar software. If pen behavior differs in one particular app, check that app’s pen or ink settings before assuming the tablet is faulty.

Shortcut keys
The M708 has eight shortcut keys, according to UGEE’s product page. Whether you can assign specific actions to them depends on the driver and the connected device, so open the shortcut settings in the driver to see what your installed version allows. UGEE’s published material does not establish a default mapping for these keys, so do not rely on one until you have checked it on your own system.

Compatibility and published specifications
UGEE’s product page lists the platform support above, with several caveats. Detachable or foldable Chromebooks may not work well with the tablet, and mapping results can vary with the computer vendor’s settings. On Linux, the packages on the download page support wired and dongle connections. They do not support Bluetooth.
The figures below are manufacturer specifications taken from UGEE’s product page, which was accessed in 2026. The page does not give a publication date for them. They are not results from independent testing.

UGEE lists the following package contents: a battery-free stylus, pen stand, eight replacement nibs, USB cable, glove, quick guide, and warranty card. The sources reviewed do not confirm that separately sold replacement nibs are compatible with the M708, so check with UGEE or the seller before buying any.
Troubleshooting
The driver does not detect the tablet on macOS
- Confirm the USB cable is firmly seated at both ends, and try a different port.
- Confirm you installed the driver package for macOS from UGEE’s download page, not a package for another system.
- If macOS asks for permission, allow UgeeTabletDriver under Accessibility in System Settings, then reopen the driver and test the pen.
- UGEE’s FAQ lists four possible causes: connection, wrong driver, cable fault, and device fault. Work through them in that order, and treat them as possibilities to check rather than a confirmed diagnosis.
Pen pressure does not register
Check the pressure test area in the driver first. If the test responds but your drawing app does not, look at that app’s pen or pressure settings. On Windows, if the app relies on handwriting or ink input, confirm that Windows Ink is still enabled.

Cursor position or screen mapping seems wrong
Verify the work area and screen mapping in the driver. If the computer has more than one display, check which display the tablet is mapped to and whether any tablet-specific display settings are in use. On Chromebooks, detachable or foldable models may have problems, and mapping can vary by the computer vendor’s settings, as UGEE warns.
Nothing appears when you draw
The driver does not provide a drawing surface on its own. Install a drawing or office application and draw inside it. The driver is only responsible for passing pen input to the computer.

Bottom line
Connect the tablet by USB, install the driver for your exact model and operating system, confirm detection in the UGEE driver, set pressure there, and check the result in a drawing application. Most setup problems come down to the connection, the driver version, or an app’s own pen settings.
