To use Talk Studio (Riverside) for YouTube Live, connect the Google account that owns your eligible YouTube channel, add YouTube as a studio destination, choose a direct stream or scheduled event, set its title, description, and privacy, then start the broadcast from the studio. Connect and test well before showtime: YouTube may take 24 hours or more to activate a channel’s first live stream, and Riverside says the video may take around 30 seconds to appear on YouTube.
Before you connect Talk Studio to YouTube
Check channel eligibility first. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and its minimum age for live streaming is 16. Riverside’s connection instructions also call for standard and intermediate channel features to be enabled. Review YouTube’s current requirements in its live-streaming help and Riverside’s YouTube connection instructions.

- Have access to the Google account that owns the channel and can authorize the connection.
- Use a stable internet connection, webcam, and microphone. These are sensible streaming basics, not special Talk Studio hardware requirements.
- Prepare the broadcast title, description, destination event, and privacy setting.
- Schedule a rehearsal in advance, especially if this is your channel’s first live stream.
- If you will show slides, screen shares, branding, or other media, prepare the assets ahead of time. Riverside says these can be uploaded to its Media Board before or during a session.
A USB microphone may help if your current microphone is inadequate, but no particular model is required by the documented workflow.
Connect your YouTube channel in the studio
- Join as host or producer. Open the Talk Studio/Riverside studio for your session and find its live-stream controls.
- Add YouTube as a destination. If YouTube is not connected yet, choose the option to connect it. The precise control labels may vary by account or change over time, so follow the live-stream controls currently shown in your studio.
- Authorize the correct Google account. Sign in to the Google account that owns the channel, accept the requested access, and select the destination channel. If you authorize a different account, the channel you need may not appear.
Riverside says this channel connection can be reused after setup. Consult its step-by-step help if the connection prompts in your account differ.

Set up and start a YouTube broadcast
- Choose the destination type. In the studio’s live-stream panel, select a direct stream or a scheduled YouTube event.
- Enter the title and description. Check spelling and confirm they match the intended broadcast.
- Set privacy deliberately. If the broadcast should be private, set it to private on YouTube as well as in the streaming workflow. Riverside notes that privacy needs to be configured on YouTube too.
- Start from the studio. Follow the panel’s start steps, then use the studio’s go-live and recording controls as appropriate for the session. Check YouTube Live Control Room to confirm the feed is arriving.
Riverside estimates that video may take around 30 seconds to appear on YouTube after starting; this is an estimate, not a guaranteed delay. For a first YouTube live stream, Riverside says activation can take 24 hours or more and recommends testing at least 24 hours before a scheduled broadcast. Build in that lead time and verify the result in YouTube Live Control Room rather than waiting until the audience is due.
Prepare the viewer experience
Riverside’s documented live-stream controls include destination connections, resolution, watermark visibility, and live chat. Its feature documentation also describes branding, media playback, presentations, screen sharing, and resolution settings. Availability and plan entitlements can vary, so check the controls and current plan details in your own account rather than assuming every feature is available to every user.

Troubleshoot common Talk Studio–YouTube problems
| Symptom | What to check | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube is missing or the connection fails | Whether you authorized the Google account that owns the intended channel, and whether the channel is eligible to live stream. | Sign in with the owning account, reauthorize or reconnect YouTube in the studio, and confirm the channel’s live-stream access. |
| The broadcast will not activate | Channel verification, live-stream restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and whether this is the first stream. | Resolve eligibility issues and allow for YouTube’s possible first-time activation period of 24 hours or more. |
| The stream has the wrong privacy | The privacy setting on YouTube as well as the selection in the studio workflow. | Set the intended privacy in both places before starting. |
| The audience does not see the studio layout you expected | Whether you assumed the host’s studio view controls the audience output. | Account for Riverside’s documented grid output and rehearse the viewer-facing presentation. |
| The stream is not visible immediately after you start | Whether it has been about 30 seconds and whether YouTube Live Control Room shows an incoming feed. | Check Live Control Room first; Riverside’s appearance timing is an estimate, so do not repeatedly restart solely because it is not instantaneous. |
