Yes—Samsung Galaxy SmartTag3 supports core finding and location-sharing features on iPhone through Samsung’s SmartThings app. It is not feature parity with a Galaxy phone: Compass View, Ring Phone and Left Behind Alert are unavailable on iOS. Samsung Canada lists iOS 17 or later as a requirement; check Samsung’s specifications for your market before buying.
What you need before getting started
- The exact model must be Galaxy SmartTag3. Do not rely on setup advice for older SmartTag models, whose compatibility may differ.
- An iPhone that meets the current local requirements. Samsung Canada specifies iOS 17 or later; requirements may vary by market.
- Samsung’s SmartThings app. Samsung says supported iPhones can use SmartThings Find to check and share a SmartTag3’s location and use Search Nearby. Check Samsung Canada’s SmartTag3 specifications for local requirements.
How to use SmartTag3 with an iPhone
- Install SmartThings. Get Samsung’s SmartThings app on the iPhone and confirm that your iOS version meets the requirement shown for your region.
- Start setup in the app. Open SmartThings and follow the current in-app prompts to add and set up the SmartTag3. Samsung’s published materials do not specify a verified, complete iPhone pairing sequence, so screen names and taps may differ from older-tag instructions.
- Use SmartThings Find. Once set up, use the app’s supported finding and sharing features to check the tag’s location or use Search Nearby. Samsung’s general SmartThings Find overview describes navigation through Life > Find; the detailed compatibility note there concerns SmartTag2, not SmartTag3. See Samsung’s SmartThings Find overview.
- Follow the app and local support if setup stalls. Use the current SmartThings prompts or contact Samsung support for your market rather than substituting pairing steps written for another tag model.
Which SmartTag3 features work on iPhone—and which do not?
Samsung identifies iOS as a supported platform for core SmartTag3 finding and sharing, but it explicitly excludes three features from iOS:

- Compass View: Not available on iPhone. Samsung describes distance-and-direction guidance of up to 60 meters under line-of-sight conditions for Compass View, but that capability is not an iPhone feature.
- Ring Phone: Not available on iOS. Do not assume the tag can ring an iPhone.
- Left Behind Alert: Not available on iOS. Do not buy it expecting that alert on an iPhone.
For features available on both supported Galaxy and iOS devices, Samsung’s announcement describes checking and sharing a tag’s location and Search Nearby. Samsung’s SmartTag3 announcement is the source for the iOS support and exclusions.

SmartTag3 is a finding aid, not a guarantee of continuous live tracking. Samsung says participating Galaxy devices can act as finding nodes; it cites more than 900 million participating Galaxy devices worldwide. Whether and when an out-of-range tag’s location updates depends on nearby participants, connectivity, settings and region. That network figure is Samsung’s published claim, not an independent measurement.

Battery, attachment and safe handling
- Battery: SmartTag3 uses a replaceable CR2032 coin cell. Samsung Electronics America estimates up to 550 days under standard usage, or up to 790 days in Power Saving Mode, based on internal lab simulations with a pre-release device and the included battery. Actual life varies, and some features are unavailable in Power Saving Mode.
- Attachment: Samsung lists a Silicone Case with keyring and a Loop Case. Accessories are sold separately, and availability may vary by market.
- Water and dust: Samsung says the tag’s IP67 resistance covers up to 1 meter of water for up to 30 minutes, but resistance may diminish over time; it advises against beach or pool use.
- Coin-cell hazard: A detached tag or battery can be swallowed. Samsung advises seeking immediate medical or veterinary attention if a child or pet swallows one.
Battery estimates and durability details are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. Samsung Canada’s product listing specifies the replaceable CR2032 cell.
Availability and announced U.S. prices
Samsung announced Galaxy SmartTag3 on September 30, 2026, with a staggered rollout: Korea availability begins October 7, the U.S. follows, and additional markets follow in 2027. Samsung’s U.S. announcement says U.S. availability is expected by early November 2026. It announced U.S. prices of $29.99 for a one-pack and $99.99 for a four-pack; those are launch-announcement prices for the U.S., not a global price or confirmation of current retail pricing. Check Samsung in your country for local availability, price and iPhone requirements. Samsung’s global announcement describes the regional rollout; its U.S. announcement gives U.S. timing and prices.
