To use Reader in Safari on iPhone, open a supported webpage, tap the Page Menu button, then tap Show Reader. To return to the regular webpage, tap the Page Menu again and choose Hide Reader. Reader is available only on webpages that support it.
Turn Reader on or off for a webpage
- Open the webpage in Safari on your iPhone.
- Tap the Page Menu button.
- If the webpage supports Reader, tap Show Reader.
- To restore the full webpage, tap the Page Menu and choose Hide Reader.
Reader presents relevant text and images while hiding navigation menus and other distractions. Apple’s iPhone guide to hiding distractions in Safari describes the feature and its controls.

Make Reader turn on automatically
You can enable automatic Reader use for one website or for all websites that support it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

- Open the website in Safari and tap the Page Menu.
- Tap Website Settings.
- Turn on Use Reader Automatically, then tap Done.
For all supported websites
- Open Settings > Apps > Safari > Reader.
- Turn on All Websites.
These settings apply to webpages that support Reader; they do not make the feature available on every page. See Apple’s instructions for automatic Reader use.

Change text size in Safari
To make a webpage easier to read, tap the Page Menu and use the large A and small A controls to increase or decrease text size. This text-size control is separate from turning Reader on. Apple documents it in Customize your Safari settings on iPhone.

The webpage may not support Reader. Apple documents Reader for supported webpages, not a setting that forces it on unsupported pages. Try the Reader control on another webpage that offers it.
