To send a text while declining a call on a Samsung Galaxy phone, save a response in the Phone app’s Quick decline messages settings, then choose it from the incoming-call screen. Menu names and gestures can differ by device, software version, and carrier.
Set up or edit your quick decline messages

Open the Phone app.

Tap More options (the three-dot menu), then Settings.

Edit a saved response, or, in the interface shown in Samsung Australia’s guide, tap Write new message, type your response, and tap the plus icon. Tap the minus icon to remove a saved response.

Keep responses brief and clear—for example, that you are busy and will call back—so the caller understands why you declined. This is a text sent as you decline the call, not a call-blocking action.
Choose a response when a call arrives
Use the message control shown on the incoming-call screen. Samsung’s Australian guide says to swipe up to reveal responses and tap one. The Galaxy S23 series manual instead describes dragging the Send message bar upward and selecting a response. Follow the prompt on your own screen if its wording or gesture differs. Samsung Australia says the selected message appears to the caller in the Text message app.

The cited instructions do not establish that every message will be delivered, or how delivery and charges work with every carrier or plan. If delivery matters, confirm your messaging service and plan details with your carrier.
Message limits and device differences
Samsung India’s call-settings guidance describes an interface that allows up to six saved messages. That figure applies to the interface in that guidance; it is not established as a limit for every Galaxy phone or region. Samsung also cautions that settings and screens may vary by wireless provider, software version, and device.

If Quick decline messages is missing, check the current Phone app settings and consult the support page or manual for your specific Galaxy model and region. The supplied official instructions do not establish availability for every model, carrier, market, or app version.
Using quick decline responses on a Samsung watch
Samsung Australia documents a watch workflow in which you swipe up on the incoming-call screen, choose Send a Message, and select a preloaded response. This is a documented regional workflow, not confirmation that every Samsung watch model offers the same controls.

Quick decline messages versus blocking
Quick decline messages send a response while you decline an incoming call. Blocking is a separate feature in Phone settings and prevents calls from a blocked number according to the device’s blocking behavior; it is not another name for sending a decline message. Samsung’s call-settings guide treats call settings as separate options.
