OBS Studio can send a Tamil devotional playlist to YouTube Live from your computer, but a 24/7 broadcast is only as dependable as the computer, power, internet connection, OBS process and media source behind it. First confirm your channel can stream, clear the rights to every recording and visual, then build and test a simple OBS scene before making it public. YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours; it does not promise one automatic replay for a broadcast that runs longer.
Check YouTube live-stream eligibility before setting up OBS
In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live and check that Live Control Room lets you proceed. YouTube’s current eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified, have no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until just before your planned launch. YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance and encoder setup instructions have the current details.

Clear rights to the devotional recordings and visuals
Before building a playlist, confirm you have permission to livestream each specific recording and visual. A devotional subject, traditional composition, publicly accessible upload or song already heard on YouTube does not establish that your channel can rebroadcast that recording. Check that permission covers livestreaming, relevant territories, and any replay or archive you plan to retain; keep written evidence.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, a placeholder may replace the broadcast, and the stream can be interrupted or terminated if the matched content remains. Even when you have a licence, ask the rights owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; YouTube says licensed material can still be interrupted if it is not allowlisted. Create the YouTube event and connect OBS
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. Create or schedule the stream in Live Control Room, and choose its title, visibility and other event details there.
- Connect OBS using its YouTube service integration if available in your OBS version. Alternatively, copy the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room and enter them in OBS’s streaming settings. Follow the current YouTube encoder setup workflow for the event.
- Treat the stream key like a password: do not show it in a screen recording, share it publicly or put it in a public document. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update OBS before the next broadcast.
Build a simple OBS scene for the playlist
In OBS, make one scene for the broadcast. Add a background image or designed visual, then optional Tamil text identifying the devotional program, singer or source. Add the media or audio source that supplies the playlist, and arrange the sources so the text and artwork remain visible. OBS scenes are combinations of sources such as images, text and media; the exact source controls depend on the source and current OBS version. Watch the OBS audio meter while the playlist plays. Confirm that the intended audio source is routed to the stream and that the meter moves without clipping. Listen to a representative section in the preview or a private test before launching publicly. The official setup guidance does not define a universal playlist-loop recipe: how a source repeats depends on the media source and configuration you use. Test the actual playlist through a full end-of-list transition, rather than assuming the source will restart or loop.

Choose OBS output settings that YouTube can ingest
Start with a resolution and frame rate your computer and upload connection can sustain. For largely static devotional artwork, 30 fps is a reasonable starting point; 60 fps adds little to an unmoving image. YouTube recommends RTMPS for secure delivery and CBR (constant bitrate). It recommends a 2-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed 4 seconds. Use AAC or MP3 audio. Refer to YouTube’s current encoder settings and bitrate guidance when selecting the matching OBS options.

In OBS, open Settings → Output to configure streaming output and Settings → Video to choose the video resolution and frame rate; labels can vary by OBS version and output mode. Do not set the bitrate based solely on the advertised download speed. Test the upload connection under realistic conditions and leave capacity for normal network variation and other household use.

Test the stream, then monitor it while live
- Start OBS streaming before the public launch or use a test event. Confirm Live Control Room receives the encoder feed and reports stream health.
- Check that the visual is legible, the audio is present and undistorted, and the playlist advances and repeats as intended. View the stream from a separate device to check what viewers actually receive.
- During operation, keep an eye on OBS connection status, audio meters and YouTube stream health. OBS has an automatic reconnect option, but test its behavior in your own setup; reconnect does not eliminate failures in power, internet, the computer or media source.
YouTube and OBS both advise testing before a real broadcast. The stream depends on your computer, power, network, OBS and media source remaining available. Plan for a person to check stream health and, if you record locally, confirm the recording is still running.
Plan separately for 24-hour continuity and replay
A continuous stream and a replay archive are different goals. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not promise automatic archiving of a broadcast longer than 12 hours, so do not rely on a single 24-hour stream becoming one replay. If having an automatic YouTube replay matters, consider shorter sessions. If you need your own copy, use OBS recording or another tested recording plan, and check local storage needs and long-duration reliability in advance.

Troubleshoot common OBS and YouTube problems
- Live Control Room will not accept the stream: confirm channel verification and eligibility, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time live activation. Recheck the event and stream key in YouTube Studio.
- YouTube receives no signal: check that OBS is streaming, the selected service or server URL and key match the active event, and the connection can sustain the configured bitrate. Replace a stream key if it may have been exposed.
- Audio is missing: verify the playlist source is active, its OBS audio meter moves, and the correct audio is included in the stream output. Test with a separate viewer device.
- The stream disconnects: check computer power, internet stability, OBS status and YouTube stream health. Automatic reconnect is available in OBS, but confirm it works in your own configuration rather than assuming it prevents downtime.
- Music is interrupted or replaced: review the Content ID match and confirm the licence covers the exact recording and live use. Ask the rights owner to allowlist your channel; licensing alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
- The broadcast is not available as one replay: YouTube documents automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours, not a guaranteed archive for longer broadcasts. Use shorter sessions if an automatic replay is important or maintain a tested recording plan.
- The playlist stops or fails to restart: inspect the media source’s loop and end-of-file behavior in your particular OBS setup, then test the complete transition before going live. There is no universal loop procedure established for every source and configuration.
