You can use Live3D VTuber Maker to track your face and animate an avatar, then add a capture source in Streamlabs Desktop—but the exact Live3D-to-Streamlabs output method is not confirmed by the available documentation. Streamlabs documents Spout2 for VTube Studio and VSeeFace, not Live3D. Set up and test the avatar output before relying on it live; a normal window or screen capture may show the app interface rather than a clean, transparent avatar.
What Live3D does—and what it does not
Live3D VTuber Maker is face-tracking software for displaying and animating an avatar. Despite the word “Maker” in its name, Streamlabs’ overview says it does not create avatars. You choose an avatar, use a webcam for tracking, and configure the app’s appearance and controls.

The key uncertainty is how the current version of VTuber Maker sends its avatar to Streamlabs Desktop. Streamlabs’ Spout2 instructions name VTube Studio and VSeeFace, but do not list VTuber Maker as a supported Spout2 sender. The available documentation also does not establish whether VTuber Maker currently offers a virtual camera. Treat either option as unverified until you see it in the current app.
Set up and calibrate the avatar in VTuber Maker
- Install and open VTuber Maker. Use Live3D’s current download and onboarding flow. A Streamlabs overview published in 2023 describes account creation and email verification before sign-in; the present onboarding may differ.
- Select an avatar and scene. Choose an available avatar and set a background or room. The app’s overview also describes quick actions and a whiteboard; the features available to you may depend on the current app and access level.
- Enable webcam tracking. Allow camera access in the operating system and select the intended webcam in VTuber Maker if the app offers a camera selector.
- Calibrate your face tracking. Use the camera icon as indicated in the app overview, then check the webcam preview and tracking indicators while moving and speaking. Confirm that the avatar follows your movement before opening Streamlabs.
The available documentation does not establish current camera resolution, tracking frame rate, or hardware requirements. If tracking is unstable, check camera permissions, close other applications using the webcam, and test again under the same lighting and camera position you plan to use on stream.

Add the scene and audio in Streamlabs Desktop
- Create a scene. In Streamlabs Desktop, add or select a scene for your VTuber layout. Add your microphone and any other intended audio sources, then check their meters while speaking.
- Choose a capture route only after checking VTuber Maker’s output options. Look in the current Live3D app for a virtual-camera setting, Spout2 output, or another documented capture mode. Do not assume one exists just because another avatar app supports it.
- If Live3D offers a virtual camera, test it as a camera source. In Streamlabs Desktop, add the camera source and select the Live3D virtual camera if it appears in the device list. This is a conditional route, not a confirmed Live3D feature. Check the preview for the avatar, framing, and any unwanted interface elements.
- If Live3D does not offer a documented output, test general capture sources. Streamlabs Desktop supports general window, game, display, and screen capture categories. A window capture may show the VTuber Maker window; display or screen capture may show the whole desktop. The documentation does not guarantee that any of these produces an avatar-only or transparent result.
- Preview before going live. Check that the avatar is visible, the webcam tracking responds, the microphone is audible, and no private desktop content or unnecessary app controls appear. Make a short test recording or private test stream if appropriate before using the layout on a public broadcast.
Which capture method should you try?
| Route | Confirmed for Live3D? | What may appear | Transparency established? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Live3D virtual camera | Not established by the available documentation | Could provide a camera-style output if the current app offers one; verify in the app and Streamlabs device list. | Not established |
| Spout2 | No. Streamlabs’ documented procedure names VTube Studio and VSeeFace, not Live3D VTuber Maker. | Depends on a compatible sender and receiver; compatibility with Live3D is not established. | Not established for Live3D |
| Window capture | Streamlabs supports the general source type; a clean Live3D avatar feed is not confirmed. | May capture the VTuber Maker window, including its interface. | Not established |
| Game, display, or screen capture | Streamlabs supports these general source categories; a clean Live3D avatar feed is not confirmed. | May capture a broader application or desktop view rather than only the avatar. | Not established |
Do not treat the general presence of a capture source in Streamlabs as proof that Live3D can provide an isolated avatar layer. If you require a transparent cutout or avatar-only feed, confirm that the current Live3D app explicitly supports an output that provides it, then verify the result in the Streamlabs preview.
Troubleshoot the setup
- The webcam preview is blank: check operating-system camera permission, confirm the correct camera is selected in VTuber Maker if selectable, and close other apps that may be using it.
- The avatar is visible in Live3D but not Streamlabs: check whether Live3D exposes a virtual camera or other output, and whether Streamlabs lists that output. If neither is available, test a general capture source, understanding that it may capture the app window or desktop rather than an isolated avatar.
- The capture includes controls or the desktop: that is a limitation of the selected window or screen capture, not evidence of a transparent avatar feed. Look for an app-supported output mode; do not promise a clean result until it appears in the preview.
- The avatar appears twice: check whether two capture sources are showing the same app or output and disable the duplicate. Streamlabs’ Spout2 troubleshooting also advises users of its documented Spout2 apps to confirm both apps are running, relaunch if the sender is missing, and switch auto Game Capture to Specific Window if the avatar appears twice. Those instructions are for the named Spout2 apps, not confirmed Live3D-specific fixes.
- Tracking is delayed or inconsistent: check camera permissions and selection, then recalibrate with the camera icon. The available overview does not specify performance targets or minimum hardware, so test your actual camera and computer rather than relying on an unsupported specification.
- The avatar works in a test but not after reopening: reopen VTuber Maker and Streamlabs, confirm the intended scene and capture device are still selected, and preview again before going live.
Live3D content, access, and copyright considerations
Streamlabs’ March 2023 overview describes free and paid avatars, backgrounds, hotkeys, quick poses, Twitch interaction animations, and a whiteboard that it says requires at least Lite access. Those are descriptions from that dated article, not confirmation of current feature availability, plan terms, avatar counts, or prices. Check the current Live3D app for the options available to your account.

Make sure you have the rights needed for the avatar, background, music, and other material in your broadcast. An avatar being selectable in an app does not by itself establish permission for every use, and music or other third-party content can create separate copyright issues. Review the relevant license or permission terms before streaming.
