How to Use Larix Broadcaster with a USB-C Ethernet Adapter for YouTube Live

A USB-C Ethernet connection can be used with Larix for YouTube Live when the phone and adapter are compatible. Here’s how to configure and test the complete setup without treating wired networking as a stability guarantee.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You can use Larix Broadcaster to send a YouTube Live feed from a USB-C phone connected to Ethernet, provided the phone and adapter support that connection. A wired link may be a sensible alternative to Wi-Fi, but it does not guarantee a stable broadcast: your router, internet upload capacity, adapter compatibility and YouTube’s ingest connection still matter. Test the complete setup before going live.

What you need to check before connecting

  • A USB-C phone and operating system that recognize USB Ethernet. Apple documents connecting USB-to-Ethernet adapters to USB-C iPhones, but that does not confirm compatibility for every adapter or Android phone. Check the adapter maker’s compatibility information for your exact handset and OS. Apple’s USB-C iPhone guidance also cautions that non-compliant USB-C accessories and cables may not work as expected.
  • An Ethernet adapter and cable, plus a working wired network with enough upstream capacity for your chosen stream settings.
  • Larix Broadcaster installed on the phone and YouTube Live enabled for the account. YouTube says enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours.

There is no universally compatible adapter model established here. Before buying, check phone and OS compatibility, Ethernet link speed and chipset support, whether the adapter needs external power, and whether you need pass-through charging. If you plan to use a hub or charge through the adapter while streaming, verify that exact arrangement separately.

Connect the phone to Ethernet

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable to the adapter and to your wired network.
  2. Plug the adapter into the phone’s USB-C port. If the adapter requires power, connect it as specified by its manufacturer.
  3. Confirm that the phone recognizes the wired network and can reach the internet. The exact network-status display varies by phone and OS; do not assume that a lit Ethernet link alone proves that the phone has internet access.

Larix’s USB camera capability, where listed, is separate from USB Ethernet. It is not evidence that Larix manages or validates an Ethernet adapter.

Get the YouTube server URL and stream key

  1. Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create a stream or select the stream you intend to use.
  2. Copy the server URL and stream key shown by YouTube. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions describe entering these values in the encoder, starting the encoder and checking that YouTube receives the feed.
  3. Keep the stream key private. Anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your stream. If you think it has been exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting.

If this is the first time the account has used YouTube Live, allow up to 24 hours for activation. Do not leave this step until just before a time-sensitive event.

Configure Larix Broadcaster

  1. Open Larix and add a connection in its connection settings.
  2. Enter the YouTube server URL and stream key as Larix directs. Larix’s official documentation explains that YouTube’s RTMP information consists of the server/application URL and stream name or key, and instructs users to combine the values in Larix’s Connection URL field. Follow the current app’s field format; do not add separators or prefixes unless Larix’s instructions call for them.
  3. Select video-plus-audio mode if you want to send both picture and sound.
  4. Choose a bitrate appropriate to the video settings and the available upstream connection. The sources do not establish one universally correct bitrate for every phone, resolution or network. If your connection cannot sustain the selected bitrate, reduce the stream settings and test again.
  5. Save the connection. Review the destination and key carefully before starting.

Larix’s current Android and iOS listings describe support for YouTube Live and adaptive-bitrate streaming. That feature does not guarantee a stable result on a particular phone, adapter or network. Google Play listing · Apple App Store listing.

Run a preflight before the actual broadcast

  1. Start Larix using the saved YouTube connection.
  2. Open the Live Control Room and confirm that YouTube receives the feed before you begin the event.
  3. Check the picture, sound, orientation and connection status. Listen for clean audio, confirm the framing is correct, and make sure the intended stream is receiving the feed.
  4. If anything is wrong, stop and correct it, then reconnect and verify the feed again. Do not treat a successful Ethernet link as proof that the broadcast path is ready.

For a broadcast involving music, video clips or other third-party material, make sure you have the rights or permissions needed for the content. A technically successful connection does not establish that content is cleared for streaming.

What Ethernet can—and cannot—fix

Ethernet changes the phone’s network path; it does not remove problems elsewhere in the route. A poor router, congested or limited upstream connection, YouTube ingest issue, unsupported adapter or power problem can still interrupt a stream. A wired setup is therefore a connection choice to test, not a stability guarantee.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Android compatibility is especially dependent on the particular phone and OS; Apple’s support for USB-to-Ethernet on USB-C iPhones should not be generalized to Android. Confirm the complete combination—phone, OS, adapter, any hub or charging arrangement, network and Larix—before relying on it.

Troubleshooting common failures

The phone does not recognize the adapter

  • Check the adapter’s compatibility information for the exact phone and OS, and confirm that the USB-C cable or accessory complies with the relevant standards.
  • Reconnect the adapter and Ethernet cable. If you are using a powered hub or pass-through charging, test that configuration independently; compatibility of one part does not prove the combined setup works.

Larix starts, but YouTube does not receive the feed

  • Check that the account has live streaming enabled; first-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
  • Recheck the server URL and stream key against the values in YouTube Studio, then confirm that the saved Larix connection uses them in the format its documentation specifies.
  • Verify that the phone has internet access over the wired connection, not merely a physical Ethernet link.

The feed arrives but picture or sound is wrong

  • Confirm Larix is set to video-plus-audio mode if both are required.
  • Check the phone’s orientation and framing, and verify the audio at YouTube before the event.

The stream drops or struggles despite Ethernet

  • Check the router and upstream connection, and consider whether the selected bitrate is sustainable. Lower the bitrate or other stream demands and preflight again.
  • Check the adapter and any power arrangement for compatibility. Adaptive-bitrate support in Larix does not prove that a particular network or adapter will remain stable.
  • If YouTube is not receiving the feed, verify the encoder connection and stream details in Live Control Room rather than assuming Ethernet itself is the cause.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is to keep uploaded videos playing as a 24/7 YouTube stream rather than broadcast a live phone camera, StreamNeo is a different option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It runs in the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home; each slot streams uploads as made up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and it can recover automatically if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos; it does not broadcast from a camera. Start the free day on StreamNeo.
