How to Use Keeper Secure File Storage

Add attachments to Keeper records on desktop or mobile, then view, download, or share them. Check platform limits and confirm syncing before relying on cloud access.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

To use Keeper Secure File Storage, attach a file to an existing vault record or create a dedicated File Attachment record, wait for the upload to finish, and save the record. You can later view or download the attachment from that record. Before relying on it as a cloud copy, confirm that syncing has completed: a crossed-out cloud icon means the file is still stored only on the device where you added it.

Choose where the file belongs

Use an existing Keeper record when the file is related to information already stored there—for example, a document associated with an account or a project. To keep a file separate, create a dedicated File Attachment record. On iOS and Android, Keeper specifically documents this record type as an option.

Upload a file in Keeper

Web Vault or Desktop App

  1. Open the record you want to use, or create a separate record for the file.
  2. Edit the record, select Add Attachments, and choose a file. You can also drag and drop a file into the vault.
  3. Wait for the upload to complete, then select Save.

iOS or Android

  1. Open an existing record or create a record using the File Attachment type.
  2. Tap Add Files or Photos and select the file.
  3. Wait for the upload to finish. Check its sync status before expecting the attachment to be available in Keeper cloud storage or on another device.

Check file-size limits before uploading

Keeper’s Help Center lists a per-file limit of 100 MB in Web Vault and 5 GB in the Desktop App, Android, and iOS apps. These are platform-specific limits, not one universal limit for every Keeper interface or account. Keeper’s business feature page has also described a 100 MB attachment limit, so check the limit shown in your current app or the relevant Help Center instructions before transferring a large file.

View or download an attachment

Open the record containing the file and select the download icon beside the attachment. Choose View or Download, as available in your interface.

Share a file from Keeper

Share with another Keeper user

Open the record containing the attachment and select Share. Enter the recipient’s Keeper account email and choose the permission that fits the situation. Depending on the interface and sharing settings, permissions can allow viewing, editing, sharing, or a combination. The attachment is part of the shared record, so choose permissions for that record accordingly.

Share with someone who does not have Keeper

Keeper describes One-Time Share as an option for sharing with a recipient without a Keeper account. Check the current product controls and eligibility before relying on a particular expiration period or access behavior; those details can vary with current settings and availability.

Fix a file that has not synced

A cloud icon with a line through it means the attachment has not finished uploading to Keeper’s cloud storage. Keeper says the file remains local to the device where it was added until upload completes, so do not count on it being backed up in the vault or available on other devices yet.

  • Check that the device has an internet connection.
  • Allow the upload to finish, then check the attachment’s sync status again.
  • If you still see the crossed-out cloud, do not assume the cloud copy is complete; check Keeper’s current help guidance for your app and account.

Availability and security notes

Keeper’s Help Center identifies Secure File Storage as a Secure Add-on and lists Web Vault, Desktop App, iOS, and Android. The documentation cited here does not establish a current consumer plan-by-plan quota or entitlement table, so confirm availability and storage terms for your account before depending on the feature.
