Choose the right way to get the record
Start with the merchant’s invoice or order page. If it offers a PDF download, use that first; if it offers a print command, save the resulting print view as a PDF. These options are often the most direct way to preserve a record that is available only inside your account.

Html2Pdf.app documents conversion of a public URL or raw HTML, not access to a private merchant session. Do not assume that pasting a URL copied from an account page will work: it may be inaccessible to the converter even when it works in your signed-in browser. Use a method authorized by the merchant if the record requires login.

- Open the invoice or receipt URL and confirm that it can be reached without your account credentials. Consider whether its contents are appropriate to submit to a third-party service.
- Open the official Html2Pdf.app converter and enter the public URL. The site describes its online converter as an interactive demo that can be used without an API key.
- Generate the PDF, then preview and download it.
- Check the merchant name, transaction date, invoice or receipt number, line items, taxes, total, and any other information you need. Also check that text and figures are legible and that page breaks have not omitted relevant content.
- Save the file with a useful name, such as
merchant-invoice-number-date.pdf, in your chosen records system.
Automate conversion through the API
For automated conversions, Html2Pdf.app documents a synchronous API that accepts a public URL or raw HTML in a JSON request. It requires an API key in the X-API-Key header. A successful response contains PDF binary data; check the HTTP status before saving it. Keep the key in a trusted backend or job, not browser JavaScript or public source code. Rendering options and archive checks
The renderer uses headless Chromium. The documentation notes that CSS media mode, available fonts and other page resources, and JavaScript timing can affect the output. It documents a waitFor setting from 0 to 10 seconds, screen or print media, page sizes, margins, orientation, scale, and header/footer options. Consult the API documentation for parameter names and supported values before adding them to a request.
After conversion, inspect every page rather than assuming a successful response means the record is complete. Look for missing logos or other external assets, content that appears only after scripts run, awkward page breaks, clipped totals, and small or faint text. Adjust rendering settings where appropriate and generate a new copy if needed.
Privacy, retention, and plan costs
Invoices and receipts can include personal, financial, or account-related information. Html2Pdf.app says generated PDFs are processed temporarily and are not permanently stored on its servers. Its documentation also says raw HTML or text submitted in html is not stored in conversion logs, while selected request metadata and source URLs may be retained. These are the vendor’s stated practices, not a blanket guarantee about every aspect of data handling. Review its current privacy policy and data processing terms before submitting sensitive material.

The API documentation describes optional PDF password protection through userPassword and says it uses 128-bit AES encryption. That setting applies to the output PDF; it does not establish that a source page is safe to disclose to the conversion service.

The pricing page says each 5 MB chunk of a generated PDF uses one credit and credits reset on the first day of each month. The listed paid-plan allowances and concurrency limits should be checked directly on the page because they are volatile vendor terms.

Troubleshoot common failures
- HTTP 400: The documentation says this can mean the URL is inaccessible or a parameter is invalid. Verify the URL is public, check the request body and parameter names, and correct the request rather than retrying it unchanged.
- HTTP 401: A missing or invalid API key is a documented cause. Check the
X-API-Keyheader and confirm the key is valid. - HTTP 403: The documentation associates this with a current plan limit. Check your plan and usage before submitting again.
- HTTP 500: The documentation identifies this as a server error. Check service status or retry later, while avoiding repeated rapid retries.
- PDF is missing information or looks different: Check whether the page depends on JavaScript, external assets, fonts, or screen-versus-print CSS. Adjust the documented wait and rendering options, then review the regenerated file.
- Account invoice cannot be reached: The documented input is a public URL or supplied HTML, and the documentation does not establish support for signing into a merchant account. Download or print the record through the merchant’s own interface instead.
