“Gemini Tasks” can mean three different features. Use the Google Tasks or Samsung Reminder connection when you need a dated reminder saved to a task list. Use Scheduled actions when Gemini should prepare a recurring answer in a chat. Use Gemini Spark schedules when a broader task should run on a time or event trigger. Their setup, account requirements, limits, and reliability are different, so choose the feature that matches the outcome you need.
Choose the right Gemini feature first
The fastest way to avoid a failed setup is to identify what “reminder” means in your case. A stored task is not the same thing as a recurring Gemini response, and neither is the same as an automation that watches Gmail or another event.

| What you want | Feature | What it does | Important requirements or limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Save a dated task or reminder | Google Tasks or Samsung Reminder integration | Gemini creates, displays, or edits a task/reminder in the connected list. | Keep Activity must be on. Google Tasks also requires Google Workspace connected to Gemini. Include the destination app in the prompt when necessary. |
| Receive a recurring answer from Gemini | Scheduled actions | Gemini prepares a response on a daily, weekly, or monthly routine. | Eligible account and Keep Activity are required. Availability is rolling out, and there can be no more than 10 active scheduled actions. Responses are prepared in advance. |
| Run a wider workflow on a time or event trigger | Gemini Spark schedules | Runs a task from a one-time or repeating time trigger, Gmail-filter monitor, or topic monitor. | Current documentation requires a personal account, age 18 or older, Keep Activity, and a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription. Regional restrictions apply; full schedule management is currently web-only. |
Google’s model is useful here: the task is the goal, the schedule is the time or event trigger, and a skill is reusable instruction describing how Gemini should perform the task. That vocabulary helps prevent asking a reminder feature to perform an automation job.
Before you create anything: account and activity checks
All three workflows depend on account settings that are easy to overlook.

- Sign in to Gemini with the account that owns the task list, calendar, mail, or other data you want to use.
- Turn on Keep Activity. The connected task/reminder integrations and Scheduled actions require it, and Spark’s current requirements also list it.
- If you intend to use Google Tasks, connect Google Workspace to Gemini with the same account. Without that connection, Gemini cannot place the task in Google Tasks.
- For Spark, verify that the account is personal, the user is at least 18, and the account has a supported Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription. These conditions are not required for every basic reminder.
Account eligibility and feature availability can change. If a control described below is missing, check the account, region, Keep Activity setting, and the current Gemini help information rather than repeatedly submitting the same prompt.
Create a one-time reminder in Google Tasks or Samsung Reminder
Use this route when the important result is a stored item with a date or time. Gemini can add, show, and edit supported tasks and reminders; it is not merely displaying text in the conversation.
Step 1: prepare the destination
- Open Gemini and sign in.
- Confirm that Keep Activity is enabled in your Gemini account settings.
- For Google Tasks, connect Google Workspace to Gemini using the same account that owns the task list.
- Decide whether the item belongs in Google Tasks or Samsung Reminder. If Gemini has access to both, naming the destination avoids an ambiguous result.
Step 2: write a complete prompt
Include the date, time, and action in one sentence. Google’s documented pattern is:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Remind me on [date] at [time] to [task].
For example:
Remind me on March 18 at 3 PM to submit the expense report.Remind me at 10 AM to call Priya.Remind me on Friday at 8:30 AM to take the recycling out @Google Tasks.Remind me tomorrow at 6 PM to pick up the prescription @Samsung Reminder.
Use an explicit calendar date when a relative term such as “next Tuesday” could be interpreted differently. Add the app name when you need to force the destination.
Step 3: verify Gemini’s confirmation
Do not stop at the conversational acknowledgment. Check the confirmation for the interpreted date, time, task text, and linked list. If any field is wrong, correct it immediately in the same chat.
Step 4: find and change the item later
To list upcoming items, ask:
What are my upcoming tasks?
You can also ask:
What are my to-dos for tomorrow?Change “submit the expense report” to March 20 at 4 PM.Mark “call Priya” as done.Rename “pick up the prescription” to “pick up the prescription at the pharmacy.”Delete the recycling reminder.
When several items have similar names, include the original date or other identifying detail. Then confirm the linked list reflects the change.
Fix common task and reminder failures
Gemini creates a chat answer but no saved item
Check Keep Activity first. For Google Tasks, verify the Google Workspace connection and that you used the same account in Gemini and Workspace. Repeat the request with @Google Tasks or @Samsung Reminder so the destination is explicit.

The date or time is wrong
State the complete date, local time, and time zone when there is any possibility of confusion. Review Gemini’s confirmation before leaving the conversation. A natural-language interpretation is not a substitute for checking the stored record.
The task appears in the wrong list
Name the destination in a new instruction, then inspect the linked list. If the item was already created, ask Gemini to move or recreate it in the intended destination and remove the duplicate only after confirming the replacement.
The confirmation is inaccurate
Connected-app workflows can produce outdated or hallucinated information. Treat the linked Google Tasks or Samsung Reminder list as the record to verify, especially for dates, completion status, and deletions.
Schedule a recurring Gemini response with Scheduled actions
Scheduled actions are for a response that Gemini prepares repeatedly, such as a daily digest, a weekly roundup, or a monthly summary. They are not ordinary alarm entries in a task list.

- Google says Scheduled actions are rolling out gradually to personal accounts and are also available to qualifying work or school Workspace accounts.
- Keep Activity must be on.
- You can have up to 10 active scheduled actions.
- The feature can be unavailable even when other Gemini features work, because access is staged by account.
Create the action
- Open the Gemini mobile app or go to
gemini.google.com. - Describe both the output and the cadence. Say what Gemini should prepare, which sources it should use if relevant, and whether the routine is daily, weekly, or monthly.
- Submit the request and read Gemini’s schedule summary. Check the frequency, time, requested content, and any source or account scope before accepting it.
Examples include:
Every day at 7 AM, look through my emails, calendar, and Drive, and let me know what to prioritize for the day.Every Monday at 8 AM, prepare a roundup of my open project notes. On the first day of each month at 9 AM, summarize the documents I added to this folder last month.
The first example is a documented Google prompt pattern. Adjust the connected sources and wording to fit your own account permissions.
Manage an existing Scheduled action
Open the Scheduled actions area to review actions, or return to the related scheduled-action chat and ask Gemini to edit the routine. State exactly what should change, such as the time, day, prompt, or source scope.
On mobile, a response-ready item uses Gemini app notifications. On the web, the related chat is marked unread. These signals tell you that the response is ready; they do not turn the action into a guaranteed real-time alert.

Understand prepared-response timing
Gemini prepares Scheduled action responses in advance to support timely delivery. Google warns that rapidly changing information, such as stock prices, may not be current when you receive the response. Use this feature for summaries and routine briefings, not for decisions that depend on the latest second-by-second data.

Gemini Spark schedules are a separate automation feature. They can start a task from a time trigger or an event-style monitor, rather than simply preparing a recurring answer in a Gemini chat.
Current requirements and regional limits
- Age 18 or older.
- A personal Google Account.
- Keep Activity turned on.
- A Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription under the current documentation.
- Access from a supported region. Google currently lists the European Economic Area, Nigeria, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom as unavailable.
These requirements apply to Spark as documented and should not be treated as requirements for every Google Tasks or Samsung Reminder request.
Supported trigger types
Spark documentation lists the following schedule and monitor types:
- One-time schedules
- Hourly schedules
- Daily schedules
- Weekly schedules
- Monthly schedules
- Yearly schedules
- Gmail-filter monitors
- Topic monitors
Create a Spark schedule
- Open a Spark task thread or Gemini Live chat in an eligible account.
- Describe the action and its trigger. For example, specify whether Gemini should run once, every weekday, or when messages matching a Gmail filter arrive.
- Review the generated schedule, trigger, time, and task instructions before saving it.
- Use the web Schedules page to confirm that the item appears among your ongoing, paused, or completed schedules.
Time-based schedules can be created and managed from the web Schedules page. Conversational creation and edits are also documented in app contexts, but full schedule management is currently web-only.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsEdit, pause, resume, or delete
On the web, open the Schedules page and select the schedule. You can edit its instructions or trigger, pause it, resume a paused item, or delete it. The mobile app supports conversational edits, but it does not currently provide the complete management surface.
Handle travel and time zones
A time-based Spark schedule remains tied to the time zone where it was created, even when you travel. If a routine should follow local time, ask Gemini to update the schedule for the new time zone; do not assume the trigger will move automatically.
Do not use monitors for urgent alerts
Gmail-filter and topic monitors are not designed for time-critical notification. Google specifically cautions against relying on them for fast-moving data or immediate events, such as being notified the moment tickets go on sale. Use a purpose-built real-time alert when missing the first moment matters.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What happens if Spark access is lost?
If a Google AI subscription is canceled or downgraded so Spark is no longer supported, access to Spark is lost and existing schedules are paused rather than deleted. Google’s documentation says the schedule data is retained. Restoring eligibility can therefore be different from recreating every schedule, but you should still inspect the Schedules page after an account-plan change.
Reliability, privacy, and review habits
Gemini’s natural-language confirmation is useful, but it is not proof that the underlying task, source, or trigger is correct. For every workflow:
- Inspect the linked task or schedule after creation.
- Use the exact date, time, cadence, and destination in the request.
- Limit connected sources to what the task actually needs.
- Review generated summaries before acting on them, particularly when they draw from mail, calendars, or Drive.
- Do not use a prepared response or monitor as a guaranteed real-time alarm.
These checks matter because connected-app workflows can contain outdated or hallucinated details even when the setup itself succeeds.
Practical decision examples
You need a dentist reminder next Thursday
Use Google Tasks or Samsung Reminder. Ask, Remind me on [date] at [time] to attend my dentist appointment @Google Tasks. Verify the date and linked list.
You want a weekday morning briefing
Use Scheduled actions if you want Gemini to prepare a recurring response from your permitted sources. Specify the weekday cadence and delivery time, then check the schedule summary and account eligibility.

You want Gemini to watch for a type of email
Use a Spark Gmail-filter monitor when your account and region support Spark. Define the filter and the action, then manage the monitor from the web Schedules page. Do not use it for an instant, time-sensitive alert.

Frequently asked questions
Can one prompt create both a Google Task and a Scheduled action?
They are separate feature types. Create the stored reminder through the Google Tasks or Samsung Reminder connection, and create the recurring Gemini response as a Scheduled action.
Is a Scheduled action the same as a phone alarm?
No. It prepares a Gemini response and signals when that response is ready. It is not documented as a guaranteed real-time alarm.
Recommended Free Tools
Why can a colleague use Scheduled actions when I cannot?
Google is rolling the feature out gradually, and eligibility differs between personal and qualifying Workspace accounts. Keep Activity and account access are also required.
Can Spark schedules be edited entirely on a phone?
Conversational edits are supported in the app, but the full Schedules management page is currently available on the web.
What should I do when a schedule runs at the wrong local time while traveling?
Ask Gemini to edit the Spark schedule for the new time zone. It remains tied to the creation time zone unless you change it.
