Select or search what is on screen
Use AI Select
- Open the Edge panel by swiping inward from the right edge of the screen, then tap AI Select. You can also take a screenshot and tap AI Select in the screenshot toolbar.
- On the Galaxy S26 Ultra, you can also open AI Select from the S Pen’s Air Command menu.
- Tap or outline an object or area. Resize the selection if needed, then tap it to see available actions.
Depending on the selected content, actions may include calling, emailing, opening Maps, using Photo Assist, extracting text, creating a GIF, editing an image, or setting a wallpaper. Available actions depend on what the phone recognizes and which features are enabled.
Search with Circle to Search
- Touch and hold the Home icon in the navigation bar.
- Circle or tap the item you want to look up.
- If the phone detects text, choose Select text to copy or translate it.
Circle to Search requires internet access and compatible device software. It may not work in apps that block screen capture, and results can vary with the uniqueness, clarity, and framing of the image.

- Go to Settings > Galaxy AI > Notification highlights.
- Choose whether to prioritize notifications or summarize chat notifications.
- To control affected apps, go to Settings > Notifications > App notifications, select an app, and enable the relevant notification setting.
Use Bixby
Say “Hi Bixby” to activate Bixby by voice. To set the Side button to open it, go to Settings > Advanced features > Bixby > Side button settings > Long press, then select Bixby. Samsung describes Bixby as supporting natural-language device control, troubleshooting, and answers; what it can do depends on the request and device configuration.

Call Screening has a specific software requirement: Samsung’s support page says it requires Android 16 with One UI 8.5 or higher. If your phone meets that requirement and the feature is available in your region, set it up as follows:

Translate a live phone call
- Go to Settings > Galaxy AI > Call Assist > Live Translate.
- Select or download the languages you need.
- During a call in the pre-installed Samsung Phone app, tap Call Assist > Live Translate. Choose whether translations appear as subtitles or are read aloud, as well as the languages to use.

Edit, organize, or create media
Edit a photo with Photo Assist
- Open a photo in Gallery and tap the Galaxy AI icon.
- Select an object by long-pressing or circling it.
- Move, resize, or erase the selection, then generate the edit.
- Use Show Original to compare and save the result as a copy.
Samsung’s One UI 8 guide also describes Sketch to Image and Portrait Studio. Some editing tools require network access and a Samsung Account; saved images may be resized and carry a visible AI watermark. Generated results can be inaccurate or unreliable, so inspect the image before using it.
Make images, stickers, and wallpapers in Creative Studio
- Swipe open the Edge panel and tap Creative Studio.
- For a new image, choose a style, enter a description of 100 words or fewer, and tap Generate.
- To decorate an existing photo, tap Add image, choose a photo, and apply styles, stickers, text, or images.

Summarize recordings and briefings
Transcribe and summarize a recording
- Open the pre-installed Voice Recorder and start a recording or choose an existing one.
- Tap Transcribe.
- Tap the Galaxy AI icon, then choose Summarize or Translate.
Samsung’s One UI guide says summaries may be grouped by subject or displayed as a timeline, and keywords can be used to search the transcript. The feature has recording-duration and text-length limits, supports eligible pre-installed apps and files, and varies by language. Network access and a Samsung Account are required.
Set up Now Brief
In Samsung’s One UI 8 tutorial, the controls are at Settings > Galaxy AI > Now Brief > Content to Include. Choose what appears in updates. Now Brief may be available at the bottom of the Lock screen, through the Apps Edge Panel, or in the Now Bar when new content is available. Because these steps come from a general One UI 8 guide, confirm the controls appear on your S26’s current software.
Write and translate text with Samsung Keyboard
- In an app that uses Samsung Keyboard, tap the Galaxy AI icon above the keyboard.
- Choose the available tool: Chat Translation, Spelling and Grammar, Writing Style, or Composer.
- Review the result, then tap Replace or Copy.
Availability can depend on network access, Samsung Account sign-in, supported language, app compatibility, and a minimum text length. Samsung does not guarantee accuracy, so review generated or translated text before sending or relying on it.
