Use the keyboard shortcut
- Open the page in Firefox.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- Choose the area or page content to capture, then download the image or copy it to the clipboard.
Mozilla Support lists these shortcuts as ways to open Firefox Screenshots; the site’s context menu is not part of this route. The support article was updated June 15, 2026: Take screenshots in Firefox.

Add the Screenshot button to Firefox’s toolbar
- Open the Firefox menu.
- Choose More Tools → Customize Toolbar…
- Drag the Screenshot control onto the toolbar and select Done.
- Click the toolbar button to start a capture.
This browser control gives you another entry point if the shortcut is inconvenient or unavailable. It does not depend on the page’s right-click menu.
Choose what to capture
Firefox Screenshots provides four capture choices:
- Selected region: drag to mark the area you want.
- Page part: move the pointer over page content and select the highlighted part.
- Full page: capture the whole page, including content beyond the visible area.
- Visible area: capture what is currently on screen.
After selecting a capture, download the image or copy it to the clipboard. Available controls or results can vary with Firefox configuration and page state.

Take a full-page screenshot through Developer Tools
If you need a separate full-page route, Firefox Developer Tools has a screenshot button that you must enable first:
- Open Developer Tools.
- Open its Settings.
- Under Available Toolbox Buttons, check Take a screenshot of the entire page.
- Click the screenshot icon added to the toolbox. Firefox saves the file to Downloads.

If a capture route does not work
- The shortcut does nothing: try the toolbar button. Keyboard shortcuts may be unavailable or affected by browser configuration.
- You cannot find the toolbar control: open More Tools → Customize Toolbar… and drag Screenshot into place.
- You need a full-page image: use Firefox Screenshots’ full-page option, or enable Take a screenshot of the entire page in Developer Tools settings.
- The result differs from what you expected: confirm whether you selected the visible area, a page part, a region, or the full page. Page state and browser settings can affect the result.
These are documented Firefox capture routes, not a guarantee for every site or managed-browser setup. Taking a screenshot does not grant access to restricted content or change a site’s permissions.
