One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo loop a recorded Hindi class into YouTube Live, run FFmpeg on a computer or server that can stay on, use -stream_loop -1 before the input file, and send the output to the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. That repeats the recording; it does not guarantee uninterrupted service. You also need stable upload bandwidth, recovery and monitoring plans, and a decision about how to handle YouTube’s 12-hour archive limit.
What you need before you start
- A computer or server that can run continuously, with enough processing capacity for your chosen encoding settings and enough sustained upload bandwidth.
- A recorded class file with compatible video and audio streams. The Hindi language does not require special FFmpeg settings; the file’s codecs, resolution, frame rate, audio, and any on-screen text are what matter.
- A current FFmpeg build from a trusted distribution source. Use
ffprobe, included with FFmpeg, to inspect the file before streaming. - A YouTube encoder stream and its stream URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. Treat the key like a password: keep it out of public examples, screenshots, repositories, and shared logs.
- Permission for every recording and audiovisual element you will transmit, including teacher or student appearances, slides, textbook pages, embedded clips, and music.
Check a file’s streams with ffprobe -hide_banner -i "class.mp4". Confirm that the expected video and audio streams appear. If the class has no audio, do not assume YouTube will accept silence or an audio-less feed: add a deliberate audio stream and verify the result in Live Control Room.
Choose where FFmpeg will run
Local computer
A local machine is straightforward if it can remain powered on and connected. The stream depends on that machine, its internet connection, and your home or office power. Keep a local copy of important recordings and consider how you will monitor or restart FFmpeg if it exits.

Hosted server
A VPS or dedicated server can keep the process separate from your home computer, but it still requires sustained outbound bandwidth, storage, maintenance, access controls for the stream key, and monitoring. A hosted server is an operational option, not a YouTube requirement; compare its cost and recovery controls with running a suitable machine locally.
Set up the YouTube stream
- In YouTube Studio, create or select an encoder-based live stream and obtain the stream URL and stream key shown for that stream.
- Use the exact URL and key in FFmpeg’s output destination. Prefer RTMPS when the encoder and endpoint configuration support it; YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingest.
- Review YouTube’s current encoder settings for your selected codec, resolution, and frame rate. YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, and recommends constant bitrate (CBR).
- Plan for a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds. For audio, its guidance recommends 44.1 kHz stereo and 128 kbps for stereo.
- Use the matching row in YouTube’s current bitrate table rather than treating a single bitrate as suitable for every stream. For H.264, examples in YouTube’s settings guidance include 4 Mbps for 720p30, 14 Mbps for 1080p30, and 17 Mbps for 1080p60. The required rate varies with codec and frame rate. Leave headroom on the sustained upstream connection.
YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends RTMPS and says, “Test your stream before you start your live stream.”

Loop a class recording with FFmpeg
For an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, this is an illustrative starting command. Replace the destination with the exact stream URL and key from YouTube Studio, and choose encoding values that match YouTube’s current settings for your intended output.
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -i "class.mp4"
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -pix_fmt yuv420p
-r 30 -g 60 -b:v 4500k -maxrate 4500k -bufsize 9000k
-c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100
-f flv "rtmp://YOUR_SERVER_URL/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"
-rereads the input at its normal playback rate instead of sending it as fast as possible.-stream_loop -1tells FFmpeg to repeat the input indefinitely. Place it before the-iit applies to.-c:v libx264and-c:a aacencode video and audio as H.264 and AAC.-r 30sets the output frame rate to 30 fps. At 30 fps,-g 60sets a 60-frame GOP, equivalent to a two-second keyframe interval. Do not copy that GOP value unchanged at a different frame rate.-b:v,-maxrate, and-bufsizeare example rate-control values, not a universal recommendation. Select a bitrate from YouTube’s current table for your exact codec, resolution, and frame rate, and confirm your connection can sustain it.-f flvselects the container commonly used for RTMP output. Use the ingest destination and protocol YouTube provides for the stream.
This command is a starting point, not a tested or guaranteed configuration. The example’s 4500 kbps video bitrate should not be mistaken for the recommended rate at every resolution. If the input codecs and timestamps are already suitable, stream-copying may reduce encoding work, but looping can expose timestamp or codec issues. Test the result privately or as an unlisted stream before relying on it.

Test the feed before making it public
- Start FFmpeg and check its output for connection or encoding errors.
- In YouTube Live Control Room, wait for the incoming preview and inspect stream health before starting the event when the selected settings require that step.
- Check the video, audio level, lip sync, and any Devanagari titles or overlays. Confirm fonts render correctly in the actual playback pipeline; YouTube’s cited guidance does not prescribe a Hindi-specific workflow.
- Watch a representative section with motion and speech, then verify playback on the devices your students are likely to use.
- Run an unlisted test before public operation. YouTube’s encoder settings guidance recommends testing before going live.
Plan for recovery and round-the-clock operation
Looping is a media operation, not an uptime guarantee. FFmpeg’s documentation includes a FIFO output example with -attempt_recovery 1 and -recovery_wait_time 1 to retry after a temporary network failure. That mechanism does not guarantee uninterrupted service. A process supervisor can restart a crashed FFmpeg process, but restart behavior should be designed and tested; depending on the stream configuration, reconnecting may create a new YouTube event.
- Monitor the FFmpeg process, the machine, the network, and YouTube’s stream health.
- Decide how to receive an alert if FFmpeg exits or the incoming feed fails.
- Test the recovery path, including what viewers see during a disconnect and whether a restart reconnects to the intended event.
- Keep original recordings and a local archive if the class material matters. A live feed is not a substitute for a separate backup.
Decide how to handle YouTube archives
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be archived automatically, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A continuously available live feed therefore does not ensure a complete replay. YouTube also notes that DVR rewind can be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours.

If students need to replay every lesson, plan shorter sessions below YouTube’s documented threshold, create separate events as appropriate, and record locally as a backup. A single continuously looping event and a sequence of shorter lesson events have different trade-offs: the former has fewer event changes, while the latter makes individual sessions and archive boundaries easier to manage.
Copyright and classroom permissions
YouTube’s livestream terms require compliance with its Community Guidelines and say the content provider warrants having the rights needed for worldwide use of live and archived content, including music rights. “Educational” does not automatically clear copyright. Confirm the permissions that apply to the teacher and student appearances, course materials, third-party clips, and background audio before broadcasting or archiving.

Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not show an incoming preview | Incorrect stream URL or key, failed connection, or unsupported output settings | Recheck the exact destination in YouTube Studio, the FFmpeg error output, and the selected ingest protocol and codecs. Reset the stream key in Live Control Room if it may have been exposed. |
| Stream health reports instability or viewers see buffering | Upload bandwidth is insufficient or inconsistent for the configured bitrate | Check sustained upstream capacity, allow headroom, and lower output quality or bitrate to a supported matching row in YouTube’s settings. |
| Video arrives but audio is missing | The source lacks an audio stream, or the output audio is not being encoded or mapped as intended | Inspect the file with ffprobe, add an intentional audio source if needed, and verify the output in Live Control Room before going public. |
| FFmpeg stops after a network interruption | The connection dropped and the process did not recover, or the process exited | Test FFmpeg’s documented FIFO recovery approach and configure a supervisor or monitoring plan for process failure. Neither recovery method guarantees no interruption. |
| The feed loops but does not produce one complete replay | The live session exceeded YouTube’s 12-hour archive guidance | Use shorter planned sessions and maintain a local recording if a complete archive is required. |
| Hindi titles or lesson overlays look wrong | A font or rendering stage may not include the required Devanagari glyphs | Check the chosen font and the actual output preview; Hindi does not itself require a different streaming protocol or bitrate. |
