The command below is a starting template, not a tested command; replace the local filenames and account-specific destination, then verify the stream before relying on it.
What you need before you start
- A Hindi meditation recording you have permission to broadcast continuously. Narration, music, and sound effects may have different rights holders; check that any license allows public, continuous live rebroadcast in the territories where it will be available.
- A cover image file, such as
cover.jpg, to supply the visible video. This setup repeats a still image; it does not turn the audio into a camera broadcast. - An FFmpeg build that includes the
libx264video encoder for the command below. - A stable upload connection capable of sustaining the outgoing stream bitrate, plus the RTMPS ingest URL and stream key provided by your YouTube live-stream setup.
YouTube’s exact ingest address and stream key are specific to your live-stream workflow. Get them from the current YouTube Live Control Room setup rather than copying a destination from someone else; keep the key private. The YouTube Live Streaming API documentation describes ingestion URL context and points creators to encoder recommendations: LiveStreams | YouTube Live Streaming API.

Build the looping FFmpeg command
FFmpeg documents -stream_loop as an input option; -1 means loop indefinitely. Place it before the audio file’s -i so it applies to that input. FFmpeg’s protocol documentation shows real-time publishing to an RTMP destination and defines RTMPS as RTMP over a secure SSL connection.

What the settings do—and when to change them
Looping and real-time pacing
-stream_loop -1repeats the meditation audio input indefinitely.-loop 1repeats the cover image, while-rereads that input at real-time speed.- The source audio’s ending becomes its restart point. If it ends with silence, a cut, or an abrupt change in ambience, that boundary will recur; edit or crossfade the file first if a smooth transition matters.
Video resolution, frame rate, and bitrate
This template encodes the still image at 30 frames per second. With -g 60, the GOP is 60 frames, or two seconds at 30 fps—the interval YouTube recommends. The selected 4 Mbps video bitrate matches YouTube’s current recommended H.264 bitrate for 480p30; the command does not set a resolution explicitly, so choose output dimensions appropriate to the image and intended resolution. YouTube lists 480p30 H.264 at a minimum of 0.4 Mbps and a recommended 4 Mbps. Those are platform recommendations, not a measured requirement for every static-image stream.
The example uses constant-bitrate-style controls (-b:v, -minrate, and -maxrate) and an 8 Mbps buffer setting. YouTube recommends CBR. If you change resolution or frame rate, consult YouTube’s current bitrate table and adjust bitrate accordingly; also confirm your sustained upload capacity can handle the outgoing rate. Recommendations may change, so check YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions before publishing.
Audio format and quality
The example encodes stereo AAC at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz, settings YouTube recommends for stereo AAC. YouTube currently lists AAC or MP3 audio with H.264 video for RTMP/RTMPS ingestion. This command selects AAC; if your FFmpeg build or workflow requires another supported audio encoder, confirm its availability and use settings supported by YouTube.

Transport and encoder support
Prefer RTMPS when YouTube offers it for the selected ingest endpoint. FFmpeg documents RTMPS as the secure SSL-based form of RTMP. The command uses libx264, so check your installed FFmpeg build for that encoder before running it; an unavailable encoder requires a build with support or a different compatible video encoder.
Test the stream before depending on it
- In YouTube Live Control Room, create or configure the live stream and copy its current ingest URL and stream key into the command. Keep the key confidential.
- Run the command and check FFmpeg’s output for input, encoder, or connection errors. Confirm that the cover image appears and that the meditation audio is audible at a suitable level.
- Watch long enough to hear the recording reach its end and restart. Decide whether the repeated boundary is acceptable; repair the source audio if it is not.
- Check YouTube Live Control Room for healthy ingestion and any warnings or messages. YouTube recommends a preflight test with audio and representative movement, an upload-speed check, and monitoring stream health during the broadcast. For a still-image meditation stream, verify the audio, image, and ingestion status directly.
Do not treat a successful local FFmpeg launch alone as proof that viewers can hear the stream or that YouTube is receiving it correctly.
Troubleshooting common failures
FFmpeg reports that libx264 is unavailable
Your installed build lacks that encoder. Use an FFmpeg build that includes libx264, or select a video encoder available in your build that is compatible with YouTube’s current ingestion guidance.

YouTube does not receive the stream
Recheck the ingest URL and stream key against the current Live Control Room setup, including the destination scheme. A mistyped or stale destination can prevent connection; never substitute another channel’s key.
The image or audio is missing
Check the local paths and filenames, then confirm the inputs are mapped as 0:v:0 for the cover and 1:a:0 for the recording. Listen to the source file separately if the stream is connected but silent.
The stream buffers or loses health
Compare the configured outgoing bitrate with sustained upload capacity and YouTube’s current recommendation for the selected output resolution and frame rate. Run an upload-speed test and monitor Live Control Room’s health messages; reduce the output settings if the connection cannot sustain them.

The audio restart sounds jarring
Because the input repeats from its file boundary, silence or an abrupt edit repeats too. Edit or crossfade the recording before streaming if the transition needs to sound continuous.
