Speak into the microphone selected in Discord to test the switch. The image changes based on voice activity; it is not a built-in Discord avatar feature.
What you need before you start
- A Discord account and access to the voice channel you plan to use.
- Streaming software that supports Browser Sources, such as OBS or Streamlabs Desktop.
- Two images of the same character: one idle and one speaking. The Streamlabs setup guide demonstrates PNG files. Transparent backgrounds are useful for placing the character over a scene.
- A microphone configured in Discord. You do not need to buy a new one if your existing microphone works.
Keep both images on the same canvas, with the character cropped and positioned consistently. Otherwise the character may visibly jump when the image changes. If you do not have artwork, you can draw it or optionally commission an artist; Streamlabs names Etsy, Fiverr, Twitter, and Upwork as places people may look, but availability and individual artists are not verified.

Set up Reactive Images by FugiTech
- Open the service from FugiTech. Visit FugiTech and follow its link to Discord Reactive Images. The integration is a third-party service, not a Discord avatar setting.
- Authorize Discord. Sign in with Discord and read the permission request shown by Discord before approving it. The permissions currently requested by the app are not established here, so rely on the live authorization screen rather than assuming what it can access.
- Upload the two image states. Configure the idle and speaking images in Reactive Images, then obtain the “Individual Browser Source” link described in Streamlabs’ setup guide. Treat this generated URL as private: do not show it in public screenshots or stream it on screen.
- Join the intended Discord voice channel. Use the account and channel whose voice activity you want reflected in the avatar. The setup guide notes that the avatar may not appear until you connect to a voice channel.
- Add the source to your scene. In OBS or Streamlabs Desktop, add a Browser Source and paste the complete Individual Browser Source URL. Resize and position it in your scene. Labels and settings can vary with software version and layout, so check the result in your actual scene.
- Test both states. Speak into the microphone selected by Discord and confirm the speaking image appears. Stop speaking and confirm the idle image returns. Test before going live.
Check the setup before streaming
- Image alignment: use matching canvas dimensions, crop, and character placement so the transition does not shift the avatar.
- Scene composition: resize and position the Browser Source so it does not cover alerts, captions, or other essential scene elements.
- Voice behavior: check the correct Discord input, mute state, voice-activity settings, and channel membership while testing.
- Privacy: keep the generated source URL out of public captures. The current service’s URL-reset or revocation controls have not been confirmed.
When you finish using the Discord voice connection, disconnect from the voice channel if you no longer need it.
Fix common problems
| Symptom | What to check and do |
|---|---|
| Browser Source is blank | Check that the entire generated URL was pasted, that the correct Discord account is connected to the intended voice channel, and then refresh the Browser Source. |
| Avatar appears but does not switch to speaking | Confirm you are in the right channel, Discord is using the expected microphone, the microphone is not muted, and voice activity is registering. Speak into that microphone again to test. |
| Avatar switches, but the character jumps | Make the idle and speaking images use the same canvas size, crop, and character placement. |
| Avatar is missing after changing accounts or channels | Reconnect the intended Discord account to the voice channel used for the stream, then refresh the Browser Source and test again. |
When veadotube Mini is a better fit
Reactive Images suits a straightforward Discord voice-channel workflow. If you want more local control over avatar states, blinking, or audio sensitivity, veadotube Mini is an alternative: it can listen to a selected microphone or a Discord or TeamSpeak user, and its output can be captured in OBS. Its official Mini 2.2 guide describes two mouth states, optional blinking states, and other effects.

- WINGED LEMUR: Join team Avatar with Momo!

- KAWAII STYLE: Mini-figure is specially made in a cute kawaii style
- DYNAMIC POSE: Features dynamic pose and unique scenery with display base
- COLLECT MORE: Look out for more Avatar mini figures and collectibles
veadotube Mini’s guide supports GIF, animated PNG, and WebP, and recommends resizing images to around 1024×1024 while preserving aspect ratio, with 2048×2048 as its stated maximum recommendation. Large or animated images can use more memory. The guide also describes controls for selecting an audio input, configuring noise filtering, setting the activation threshold, and choosing how long before returning to the closed-mouth state.
For OBS capture, veadotube’s OBS guide recommends Spout2 for transparency and hidden UI on Windows, PipeWire Video on Linux, and Syphon Client on macOS. Window capture is another option, with platform-specific caveats. OBS virtual camera output is a separate workflow if you want to send the OBS scene into a Discord video call; it is not the same as adding Reactive Images as a Browser Source for a stream.
