Open Discord in a supported desktop browser
- Open an up-to-date desktop browser. Discord’s published minimums, on its system requirements page updated July 21, 2026, are:

These are Discord’s published minimums, not a guarantee that every browser configuration will work. Discord warns that older browsers may lack functionality, and says mobile-browser use is unsupported. Check Discord’s current system requirements because browser support can change.

- Go to discord.com/login. Confirm the address is on discord.com before entering account details.
- Sign in with the email address or verified phone number on your Discord account and your password. Alternatively, use QR-code login with the Discord mobile app; see Discord’s login instructions.
Once signed in, you can use Discord in the browser without launching the desktop app. Discord recommends its desktop clients for the best experience, but documents the browser as an option when a supported desktop client cannot run. Its Getting Started guide explains how to use the web client.

If the page will not load or you cannot sign in
There is no single confirmed cause for every loading or login failure. Check the basics before changing account or browser settings:

- Make sure you are visiting discord.com/login.
- Use an updated desktop browser that meets Discord’s published minimum version.
- If possible, try another supported desktop browser. This helps determine whether the problem is specific to one browser.
- Check Discord’s official system requirements for current browser support. If you suspect a service interruption, check Discord’s service status rather than assuming an outage is the cause.
Fix browser voice and video access
Text access and calls have different requirements. If the web client loads but your microphone or camera is unavailable, allow discord.com to use those devices in the browser’s site permissions. The exact permission controls vary by browser; Discord’s voice and video troubleshooting guide links to browser-specific instructions.
Check your Discord device settings
- In Discord, open User Settings → Voice & Video.
- Choose the intended input device (microphone) and output device (speakers or headset), then check the volume and input mode.
- Confirm that the microphone, headset, or webcam is connected securely and available to the computer.
If you still cannot hear others or they cannot hear you, follow Discord’s additional audio input and voice troubleshooting. Depending on the problem, Discord also recommends trying a restart or system update.
