You may be able to use Copilot in Microsoft Edge without signing in: Microsoft says its no-account route is available through Edge. But Microsoft’s separate Edge setup guide tells users to sign in with a personal Microsoft account. The signed-out option is therefore not guaranteed to appear for everyone.
Try Copilot in Edge while signed out

If Edge asks you to sign in or Copilot is unavailable, Microsoft’s documented setup path is to sign in to Edge with a personal Microsoft account. The sources do not establish that signing in to an Edge profile and signing in to Copilot are always the same state. Microsoft’s Edge setup guide
Microsoft’s own pages explain why the experience can be confusing: its setup guide answers “Yes” to whether sign-in is needed and says, “Yes. Sign in to Edge with your personal Microsoft account to get started.” Its separate grounding page says Copilot is available through Edge without an account. The pages do not explain the discrepancy, so the visible sign-in requirement may vary by entry point, rollout, region, browser version, or account state.

What Copilot can access without an account
Microsoft says prompts in the no-account experience rely solely on public web data. That route cannot access personal files, email, or organizational content. Microsoft’s no-account guidance
Separately, Edge’s context clues can let Copilot use information such as the current webpage, its title, open tabs, and browser history, depending on the request and context settings. Stop Copilot from using browsing context

In Edge, open the More menu.

Select Copilot and AI.

Turn off Allow Copilot to read context clues on the web.
Microsoft’s documented setting controls whether Copilot can use Edge browsing context; menu names or availability may change. Microsoft says browsing context is not saved to conversation history, where only the prompt and Copilot response are saved. Privacy considerations for unsigned-in use
Microsoft’s Copilot privacy FAQ lists people who are not signed in to Copilot among groups whose data is not used to train its models. This is a statement about that FAQ’s specified group and model training; it should not be read as a general claim about other signed-in experiences or all data handling. Microsoft also advises users not to submit confidential or sensitive personal information they would not want used for purposes described in its FAQ and Privacy Statement.
