Streamlabs says the YouTube stream must be public for Cloudbot to join and respond.
Before you start
- Sign in to your Streamlabs account and open its web dashboard.
- Make sure you can manage the YouTube channel in YouTube Studio.
- Plan to test with a public livestream. Streamlabs says private and unlisted streams do not meet the public-stream requirement for Cloudbot to join.
If you use multiple supported platforms, Streamlabs’ quick guide recommends linking the channels first under Account Settings > Platforms. This is optional if you are setting up YouTube alone.

Enable Cloudbot and connect it to YouTube chat
- In the Streamlabs dashboard, open Cloudbot and select Enable Cloudbot.
- In YouTube Studio, open Settings > Community.
- Add the Streamlabs channel as a moderator for your YouTube channel, following Streamlabs’ current quick-guide instructions for identifying the moderator account.
- Start or schedule a public YouTube livestream, then check its chat to confirm Cloudbot can participate.
Cloudbot runs as an online service; you configure it through Streamlabs rather than adding a bot program to your streaming computer.
Configure commands
Choose built-in commands
Open Commands in the Streamlabs dashboard. Review the default commands and toggle on only the ones you want viewers to use. You can edit available responses and permissions. Permission settings differ by command, so check whether each one is available to all viewers or restricted to moderators.

Create a custom command
Use the Custom tab to create a command with your own text, a template, or supported variables. Choose a memorable trigger, set who may use it, and save it. Test the trigger in the public stream’s chat using an account with the permission you assigned. If it does not respond, verify the exact spelling and permission before changing other settings.
Set moderation protections
Open Mod Tools to select a preset Protection Level, or enable individual protections such as caps and links. Adjust the strictness for each enabled tool to fit your chat. A preset is quicker to configure; individual controls let you tune specific protections. Start with settings that will not block normal viewer messages, then review how they behave during a public stream.

Optional features: timers, rewards, and media sharing
Timers
Timers post scheduled messages when their conditions are met. Set the message interval and the minimum number of chat lines required before a timer can post. A timer may be enabled and still remain silent if either condition is unmet. Streamlabs says the line-minimum check considers only the last five minutes of chat.

Cloudbot also offers viewer loyalty and reward features. Treat these as optional engagement tools: configure them only if you have a clear use for points or rewards, and check any point requirement attached to commands that depend on them.

Media sharing
Cloudbot’s media-sharing integration can let viewers request songs or videos. Before enabling it, choose the protection level, queue limit, maximum duration, per-user request limit, skip-vote settings, and whether to restrict requests to music. These controls affect what viewers can submit and how requests enter the queue. Only allow material you have the rights and permissions to use; a request feature does not grant copyright permission.
Troubleshoot common problems

| The bot stops working after an account or bot-name change | Whether the connected account or bot name changed recently | Relog into Streamlabs if needed, disconnect and reconnect Streamlabs services while troubleshooting, then turn Cloudbot off and back on. |
These checks follow Streamlabs’ setup and troubleshooting guidance; dashboard labels can change as the service is updated.
