Install Apple Music from Google Play, then sign in with the Apple Account linked to your subscription—or choose an available plan in the app to subscribe. Apple documents support for Android 5.0 Lollipop or later and Chromebooks that support Android apps. You can also cast supported music to Chromecast, use the app with Android Auto, view available lyrics, and enable lossless audio from its settings.
Install Apple Music on your Android device
- On an Android phone or tablet running Android 5.0 Lollipop or later, open Google Play and search for Apple Music, then install the app. Apple also lists Chromebooks that support Android apps. Compatibility and download availability may vary by device and region, so check the app store available to you. Apple’s UK support page notes that users in mainland China can also download the app through Tencent or Xiaomi. Apple’s Android device guide and subscription instructions provide the current setup details.
- Open Apple Music after installation. If the app prompts you to sign in or subscribe, choose the option that matches your situation.
Sign in or start a subscription
If you already subscribe
Sign in with the Apple Account associated with your Apple Music subscription. If you see a trial or subscription offer, tap Sign In in the upper corner. Apple also documents the path More > Settings > Sign In. If the account you use does not have the subscription, check that you are using the correct Apple Account.

If you are new to Apple Music
- Open the app and choose an offer on the Welcome screen. If that screen does not appear, tap Home and look for the offer.
- Sign in with an existing Apple Account or create one when prompted.
- Choose from the plans offered in your region, confirm billing information and a valid payment method, then tap Subscribe.
Plan choices, trial offers, eligibility, and billing terms vary by country and can change. Apple’s subscription instructions are localized for the UK, so use the offers shown in your own app rather than assuming those plan details apply elsewhere. See Apple’s Android subscription guide.

Play music and find lyrics
Browse or search for music in Apple Music, then tap a track to start playback. Tap the current song at the bottom of the screen to open Now Playing. For a song in the Apple Music catalog, tap Lyrics to see time-synced lyrics when available; otherwise, the app may show the full lyrics without synchronization.

If the Lyrics button is disabled, Apple says the track may not be from the Apple Music catalog, lyrics may not be available for it, or the device may not have an internet connection. Details are in Apple’s lyrics instructions for Android.
Cast Apple Music to Chromecast
- Connect your Android device and Chromecast to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Start a song in Apple Music, then tap the current song at the bottom of the screen to open Now Playing.
- Tap Cast and choose your Chromecast device.
Casting is not universal: Apple says some content types and Chromecast devices are not supported. If the Cast option or your device does not appear, confirm the Wi-Fi connection and check whether your device and the content support casting. See Apple’s Android device guide.

Use Apple Music with Android Auto
Connect your Android phone to a compatible car setup, open Android Auto on the car display, then open Apple Music and play music. Apple states that Android Auto requires Apple Music for Android version 2.6 or later. If the app does not appear or connect, check that Apple Music is updated and consult Apple’s Android instructions and the current Android Auto support information for your phone and vehicle configuration.
Turn on lossless audio on Android
- In Apple Music, tap More > Settings > Audio Quality.
- Tap Lossless to turn the feature on or off.
- Choose the audio quality you want for streaming and for downloads.
Apple’s guidance calls for the latest Apple Music Android app and a wired connection to headphones, a receiver, or powered speakers for lossless playback. Bluetooth connections are not lossless. For sample rates higher than 48 kHz, your Android device may need an external digital-to-analog converter (DAC); check the device manufacturer’s compatibility information. Higher-quality streaming uses more data, and lossless downloads take more storage, so choose settings with your connection and available space in mind. See Apple’s lossless-audio guidance.
