You can use an Android tablet as a second monitor by installing or using a display feature supported by both the tablet and computer. For a compatible Galaxy Tab and Windows PC, try Samsung Second Screen first. For other Android tablets connected to Windows, spacedesk is a documented option; Duet advertises a desktop-to-mobile display workflow for Mac and Windows. Check your exact device and OS compatibility before setting up: a USB-C cable alone does not make a tablet a video-input monitor.
Choose a method that matches your computer and tablet

These methods send a computer’s desktop to the tablet. Android’s connected-display feature addresses the reverse arrangement—using an Android device with an external monitor—and is not a way to turn a tablet into a computer’s second screen. Use Samsung Second Screen with a Galaxy Tab and Windows
Samsung’s support page lists compatible Galaxy Tab models and One UI requirements. Confirm your tablet is on that list before following the setup flow; availability is not universal across Galaxy tablets or Windows PCs. Samsung says the feature is optimized for Samsung computers, and behavior can vary by PC model and manufacturer. See Samsung’s Second Screen compatibility and setup information.
- On the Galaxy Tab, open the Quick Panel and tap Second Screen.
- On the Windows PC, open the Second Screen app and select the tablet when it appears.
- Choose whether to extend or duplicate the display, or use the tablet-only mode offered in the PC app.
For wireless use, the PC’s Wi-Fi adapter, graphics hardware, and drivers must support Wireless Display. If the tablet does not appear, check those PC requirements as well as the tablet’s model and One UI version.

Samsung’s experimental USB mode
Samsung documents USB connection as an experimental Labs feature. Its listed prerequisites are Windows 11 version 24H2 and One UI 7.0 or later. If either device does not meet those requirements, use a supported wireless setup or another compatible method rather than assuming any USB-C cable will work.
Set up spacedesk on Windows and Android
spacedesk uses two components: Driver on the Windows computer that provides the desktop, and Viewer on the Android tablet. Its manual covers installation and display setup at spacedesk Introduction and Setup. Download links and current versions are on the spacedesk download page.

- Install spacedesk Driver on the Windows primary computer.
- Install and open spacedesk Viewer on the Android tablet.
- Connect the devices using a supported network route, or follow the manual’s separate direct-USB procedure.
- Choose extension or duplication through the app workflow or Windows display settings.
Connection methods and the vendor’s performance labels
spacedesk classifies connection methods in its manual as follows. These are the vendor’s categories, not independent benchmark results or a guarantee of performance on a particular network.

Actual responsiveness and image quality depend on the devices, software, and network. The manual’s classifications can help compare its connection routes, but they do not establish a measured latency or guarantee that one route will feel the same on every setup.

Direct USB connection caveat
For spacedesk’s Android USB cable procedure, enable the Android USB option in Driver Console and follow the vendor’s instructions at Android USB Cable Connection. The manual says that while this mode is active, other USB cable applications—including file transfer—are disabled. Turn the option off when you need those other USB functions.
Use Duet for a Mac-to-Android or Windows-to-Android setup
Duet’s product page says to install its desktop software on the computer and its app on the tablet or phone acting as the display. It lists macOS 12.3 or later and Windows 10 or later for desktop downloads, and says Android devices are supported. The page does not list every compatible Android tablet model, so check the current app listing and support details before paying or relying on it. See Duet’s product information.

What a cable can—and cannot—do
A cable is useful only when the particular tablet, computer, operating systems, and display software support a wired mode. Samsung’s experimental USB route has the requirements above, and spacedesk has its own USB procedure and limitations. A USB-C cable by itself does not give an Android tablet generic video input, and a stand can position the tablet but does not enable the connection.
