What Amulet Editor does
Amulet is a third-party program that externally modifies Minecraft save files. Instead of running as a mod inside a world, it reads the files on your computer and writes your edits back to those files when you save.
That approach makes Amulet useful for jobs that are awkward or impossible in normal gameplay:
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Repairing or removing a damaged area.
- Moving a build to another location or another world.
- Filling a large region with one block, or replacing one block with another.
- Changing biome data.
- Waterlogging blocks in a selected region.
- Deleting selected or unselected chunks so Minecraft regenerates them.
- Converting worlds between supported Java and Bedrock formats.
Amulet supports released Minecraft Java versions from 1.12 onward and released Bedrock versions from 1.7 onward. Snapshot, beta, and preview formats are not supported because those formats change too often. A world from an unsupported or very recent test build may fail to open even when its folder looks normal.
Install Amulet and prepare a safe copy
Choose the installer for your system
Download the Amulet installer that matches your operating system and processor architecture from the official Amulet site. Windows users can choose the release build or a beta build offered there. The project directs macOS and Linux users to source-based installation; its repository also documents a Docker-based setup for Linux. Follow the installer prompts, then launch Amulet after installation finishes.

Make a duplicate before every significant edit
Copy the complete world folder to a separate location before you edit. Amulet’s disclaimer says that corruption is not expected but still asks users to create copies. Keep the untouched original until you have opened the edited copy in Minecraft and checked the areas that matter.
Use a clear name such as MyWorld-amulet-working-copy. If you are making several large changes, create another dated copy before each major operation so you can roll back one operation without discarding all later work.
Find the usual save folders
The exact location can differ by installation, account, and operating-system version. These are the typical paths documented for local saves:

| Edition | Typical path | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Java Edition | %AppData%/.minecraft/saves |
Each subfolder is normally one Java world. |
| Newer Bedrock for Windows | %AppData%/Minecraft Bedrock/Users/<user_id>/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds |
The folder name contains a user identifier and worlds may not use their visible in-game name. |
| Older Bedrock for Windows | %LocalAppData%/Packages/Microsoft.MinecraftUWP_8wekyb3d8bbwe/LocalState/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds |
Use this location when your installation still stores worlds under the older package path. |
If you cannot identify a world by folder name, open Minecraft’s world list and note its displayed name, then inspect folders by their contents and modification date. Never move or rename the only copy while you are still trying to identify it.
Open a world in the 3D editor
- Close Minecraft completely.
- Start Amulet and choose the copied world folder in the open-world dialog.
- Wait for the world and its dimensions to load. Large worlds can take time to index.
- Choose the dimension and use the coordinate controls in the file panel to move to the area you need.
- Confirm that the displayed terrain, dimension, and coordinates match your intended location before selecting blocks.
Amulet keeps edits in the editor session until you save. Use Ctrl+S or the Save command to write them to the world files. Ctrl+Z undoes an operation and Ctrl+Y redoes one; Close exits the world. Undo is useful for mistakes during one session, but it is not a substitute for retaining an untouched backup.
Select regions accurately
Box selection
Choose the Select tool and drag from one corner of the region to the opposite corner. Amulet uses the two points to define a rectangular selection in the current dimension.
Hold Ctrl while left-clicking to add more selection boxes. Multiple boxes let you edit separated rooms, an irregular outline, or several disconnected areas without including the space between them.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Resize a box by dragging its corners or edges. For precision, enter the minimum and maximum coordinates in the selection controls. Check the coordinate values before running a bulk operation: a one-block error at the edge can remove or replace an unintended wall, floor, or redstone component.
Operations available on a selection
| Operation | Result | Good use |
|---|---|---|
| Fill | Places one chosen block throughout every selected box. | Making a foundation, clearing a region with air, or laying a uniform floor. |
| Replace | Swaps a selected block type for another. | Changing a material while leaving other blocks untouched. |
| Set Biome | Changes biome data for the selected area. | Correcting a biome assignment without rebuilding terrain. |
| Waterlog | Waterlogs blocks that support waterlogging in the selected region. | Applying waterlogged states to eligible blocks in bulk. |
| Delete chunks | Removes selected chunks, or removes all chunks outside a selected area when using the unselected option. | Forcing Minecraft to regenerate unwanted terrain when those chunks are visited again. |
Bulk edits are powerful because they operate on every selected box. Before clicking an operation, verify the dimension, coordinate range, and block choice. Save only after you have reviewed the result in the 3D view.

Copy and paste a build between worlds
Copy the structure
- Open the copied source world and select the complete build, including any foundation or surrounding blocks that must travel with it.
- Click Copy, press
Ctrl+C, or use Edit > Copy. - Open the destination world in Amulet without closing the program. Keep both worlds available in the editor.
- Choose Paste, press
Ctrl+V, or use Edit > Paste. - Position the preview at the required coordinates, then apply the paste.
- Use rotation, scaling, or mirroring when the destination requires a different orientation or size.
- Save the destination world with
Ctrl+S, close Amulet, and inspect the build in Minecraft.
You do not need to export a file just to copy a selection from one open world to another. Amulet can translate copied data between supported versions and platforms during this workflow.
When an export file is useful
For a reusable structure file, the editor guide documents these formats:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →.construction.schematic.schem.mcstructure
Exporting is optional for a direct world-to-world copy. Use it when you need to archive a build separately or move it through a file-based workflow that accepts one of those extensions.
Inspect rotated builds in-game
Directional blocks such as stairs retain their prior blockstate after rotation. A rotated staircase, door, rail, or similar block can therefore face the wrong direction even though the structure itself moved correctly. Open the destination in Minecraft and inspect directional blocks, redstone mechanisms, entrances, and any block whose appearance depends on orientation. Correct individual blocks in-game or make a targeted follow-up edit in Amulet.
Convert a Java world to Bedrock (or the reverse)
Amulet can convert between any two worlds it can open, including Java-to-Bedrock, Bedrock-to-Java, and conversions within the same platform. Conversion modifies the output world, so use a new destination rather than your only copy of an existing world.
Conversion procedure
- Close both the input and output worlds in Minecraft. Do not leave either world open on a Realm, client, or server while conversion is running.
- Open Amulet and load the input world.
- Choose Convert in the editor.
- Select the output world or destination folder. Prefer a newly created, empty destination world prepared for this conversion.
- Run the conversion and wait for Amulet to finish writing the output files.
- Close Amulet before opening the converted world in Minecraft.
- Open the output world and verify the spawn area, important coordinates, dimensions, terrain edges, and major builds.
Record a few known coordinates in the source world before conversion. Checking those same coordinates afterward is a practical way to detect an offset or a missing region early.

What conversion does not preserve reliably
- Entities are not currently supported by the documented conversion workflow. Mobs, animals, villagers, armor stands, and other entities should not be expected to arrive in the output.
- Container items are not copied. Chests, barrels, furnaces, and similar inventories can exist while their contents are absent.
- Items are currently supported only within the same platform, so do not assume Java item data will survive a Java–Bedrock conversion.
- Some block translations remain incomplete. A block can be replaced by an approximate equivalent, lose a state, or fail to translate exactly.
Because these limitations are format-specific, inspect valuable builds and manually recreate inventories, entities, and unusual blocks after conversion. Keep the original input world untouched until verification is complete.
Edit a Realm world
Amulet edits local save files, not a live Realm. Download the Realm world through Minecraft first, then work on that downloaded copy:
- Download the Realm world to your local device using Minecraft’s Realm management controls.
- Exit Minecraft and make an additional backup of the downloaded folder.
- Open the backup copy in Amulet and perform the edit.
- Save and close Amulet.
- Open the edited local world in Minecraft and check the changed areas.
- Upload the verified edited world back to the Realm.
Players who join the Realm while you are preparing the replacement continue to see the currently hosted version. Coordinate the upload with them and keep the downloaded pre-edit copy in case the replacement needs to be reverted.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsEdit a multiplayer server world
You need access to the server’s world files. Stop the server for the entire edit so no process writes new chunks or player data while Amulet is changing the files.
- Stop the server cleanly.
- Copy the server world and retain the original backup.
- Open the copy in Amulet and make the changes.
- Save in Amulet and close the world and the editor.
- If the server runs on another computer, upload the edited world files back to that computer.
- Start the server and check the edited coordinates, player access, and any affected dimensions.
Never edit a live server folder. A server restart or a second backup is not a substitute for stopping it before the edit; simultaneous writes can leave the files in an inconsistent state.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Recognize unsupported or risky cases
Snapshots, betas, previews, and Marketplace worlds
Only released Java versions from 1.12 onward and released Bedrock versions from 1.7 onward are documented as supported. Snapshots, beta builds, and preview builds are excluded. Marketplace worlds should not be treated as supported simply because they open in Minecraft; packaging, locked content, or unusual data can prevent a safe edit.
Best Value

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Red chunks
An unloadable chunk appears red in Amulet and cannot be modified. Do not force an operation over it. Check that you opened the correct world and dimension, confirm that Minecraft is closed, and return to the backup if the chunk remains unavailable. If the same area is essential, preserve the original folder and test with a separate copy rather than repeatedly saving a partially loaded world.
Incomplete block translation
Cross-platform editing and conversion can encounter blocks whose Java and Bedrock data models do not match. Review unusual blocks, custom-looking decorations, signs, redstone components, and directional blocks after saving. Treat an apparently successful paste as a starting point for an in-game inspection, not proof that every blockstate is identical.
Entities and inventories
Entities are not currently supported, and container items are not copied during conversion. Before converting, write down the locations of important villagers, animals, armor stands, and storage inventories. Recreate or refill them after the output world has been checked.
A reliable edit checklist
- Confirm the edition, release version, dimension, and world folder.
- Exit Minecraft; stop the server if the world is hosted remotely.
- Make and label a complete backup.
- Open the backup, not the original.
- Navigate by coordinates and verify the target area.
- Use the smallest practical selection boxes.
- Check the operation and block choice before applying a bulk change.
- Save with
Ctrl+S, then close Amulet before launching Minecraft. - Inspect the changed area, converted coordinates, directional blocks, entities, and inventories in-game.
- Keep the original and pre-edit copies until the result has been played successfully.

What to expect after saving
Amulet changes remain in memory until you save, and saving writes those changes to the selected world files. Close the editor before launching Minecraft so the game opens the finished files rather than files that are still held open by another program.
For a simple block replacement, verify the exact region and block counts visually in-game. For a large paste or conversion, check several known coordinates, walk the boundaries, test entrances and redstone, and inspect storage and entity-dependent areas separately. If the result is wrong, close Minecraft without saving further changes and restore the untouched backup rather than trying to repair an uncertain conversion over the same files.
