Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo run recorded classroom lessons as a YouTube live stream, create or schedule a stream in YouTube Studio, copy its server URL and stream key into an encoder, and use the encoder to play your lesson file or playlist. The key connects the encoder to YouTube; it does not loop the lessons or keep the broadcast running by itself. For a 24/7 channel, you also need a playout method that can run unattended, a recovery plan, and a separate archive strategy.
Before you start: enable live streaming and plan the broadcast
Your channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube says first-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so enable it and test well before the classroom channel’s launch. See YouTube Help: Get started with live streaming.

- Prepare the content: Choose the recorded lesson file or playlist and confirm you have the rights and permissions needed to broadcast it. A school’s ownership or use of a recording does not by itself establish that every included piece of music, image, or other material is cleared for a public livestream.
- Choose a playout method: You need an encoder or service that supplies the video feed and, for continuous playback, can loop the material as needed. YouTube supports computer software encoders and standalone hardware encoders; the exact looping control depends on the encoder.
- Plan for monitoring and recovery: Decide who will check the broadcast, how a dropped connection will be restarted, and who is allowed to access or rotate the stream key.
- Decide how to keep an archive: If preserving the lesson broadcast matters, arrange a local recording rather than relying on a single 24-hour YouTube stream to produce a complete archive.
Create or schedule the YouTube stream
- Open YouTube Studio: Select Create → Go live. In Live Control Room, select the Stream tab to set up a stream now. To make a scheduled watch page, use Manage → Schedule stream. A scheduled stream gives you a page you can share in advance and lets viewers set reminders.
- Set the stream details: Enter the title, description, audience and privacy settings appropriate for the class. If you want to test without publicly announcing the broadcast, use an appropriate non-public setting and check that the intended viewers can access it.
- Copy the connection details: In the stream settings, copy YouTube’s server URL and stream key. The URL is the encoder’s destination; the key identifies or authorizes the stream connection. YouTube describes stream keys as password-like, so treat them as secrets. The relevant guidance is in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder and Manage live stream settings.
Connect an encoder and start the recorded lessons
- Configure the source: In your chosen software or hardware encoder, select the recorded lesson file or playlist as the video source. Enable looping in the encoder or playout system if you want lessons to repeat. The stream key itself has no playback or looping function.
- Enter YouTube’s destination: In the encoder’s streaming or output settings, paste YouTube’s server URL into the server or ingest field and the stream key into the stream-key field. Keep the key out of screenshots, public documents, shared classroom displays and messages to people who do not need access.
- Set the output for the actual source and connection: Choose an output format supported by your encoder and YouTube’s current guidance, and make sure the encoder is sending the intended video and audio. There is no single bitrate or resolution setting established here for every classroom file, encoder and connection; use the current settings guidance for your particular encoder and avoid selecting a higher output than the source and upload connection can sustain.
- Start sending the feed: Start streaming in the encoder. In Live Control Room, wait for the preview and check that picture and sound are present. For a scheduled stream, click Go live only after the preview appears and you are ready for viewers.
- Verify the viewer experience: Open the watch page from a viewer device and confirm the intended privacy/access setting, picture and audio. Check that the recorded lesson advances or loops as expected.
YouTube’s encoder workflow and setup details are documented at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

Leave upload bandwidth headroom
YouTube recommends allowing 20% upload bandwidth headroom. Treat this as a platform recommendation, not a guaranteed failure threshold. Include the primary and any backup streams when estimating what the connection must carry, then leave the recommended margin. See YouTube Help: Streaming tips.

Monitor the stream and the source recording
- Check the Live Control Room preview and watch page, including audio, after startup and during operation.
- Confirm that the lesson file or playlist continues advancing rather than ending, pausing or displaying an unintended screen.
- If you record locally, check that the recording file is being created and continues to grow; confirm there is enough disk space for the planned recording period.
- Test the complete workflow, including what happens after the encoder or network disconnects. YouTube’s setup guidance explains how to connect an encoder; it does not guarantee uninterrupted operation by a particular encoder, service or internet connection.
Protect and rotate the key if it is exposed
Anyone with access to a working key may be able to send a feed to the associated stream. If you think it has been exposed, reset it in Live Control Room, then replace the saved key in the encoder before restarting. Restrict access to the key and document who is responsible for updating it.
Do not rely on a 24-hour live stream as the lesson archive
YouTube’s archive guidance says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. That means an uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast should not be treated as a dependable complete archive. If you need a lasting lesson recording, retain a local recording and check that it is intact. See YouTube Help: Archive live streams.

DIY encoder or cloud playout?
A computer software encoder gives you control over the source and output, but the computer, encoder process and network connection must remain available for a home- or school-based setup. A standalone hardware encoder is another option, particularly for a dedicated production setup; it is not required for a prerecorded-only stream. Compare any option on unattended looping, reconnect behavior, monitoring, local recording, compatibility, ongoing power and network costs, and who can access the key. YouTube’s encoder documentation does not verify the reliability of any particular third-party playout product.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera, and it streams to YouTube.
