You can send an ordered playlist of Hindi videos to YouTube Live with FFmpeg, provided the files are compatible with the playlist format you use and you configure YouTube’s ingest settings correctly. This guide assumes “playlist file” means FFmpeg’s plain-text concat format—not an M3U or M3U8 playlist. Hindi audio or titles do not require a special FFmpeg mode.
What you need before you start
- FFmpeg installed with the video encoder you plan to use. The example below uses
libx264; check that your build includes it. - Local video files and a plain-text concat playlist that names them in playback order.
- A YouTube Live event, with its event-specific server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your event.
- A reliable upload connection with enough sustained bandwidth for the selected video and audio bitrate. YouTube recommends a speed test and a preflight test with representative picture and sound.
FFmpeg’s concat demuxer is most suitable when every file has the same streams and compatible codecs, time bases, and stream layout. If your Hindi videos vary in resolution, frame rate, codecs, or audio layout, use a normalization or re-encoding workflow instead of assuming stream-copy concatenation will work.

How do you make the FFmpeg playlist file?
- Put the videos and a text file in a working directory. Save the text file as
playlist.txt. - For FFmpeg’s concat demuxer, make the file look like this, with the first line exactly as shown:
ffconcat version 1.0 file 'video-01.mp4' file 'video-02.mp4' file 'video-03.mp4' - List one file per
filedirective, in the order you want them played. Relative filenames are easiest to manage; the default safe mode accepts safe relative paths and rejects some absolute or unusual paths.
The signature ffconcat version 1.0 must be at the very beginning of the file: no leading whitespace or byte-order mark. Quote and escape paths correctly if they contain spaces, quotes, or special characters. If you deliberately need absolute or otherwise unsafe paths, -safe 0 relaxes path checks; use it only with a playlist you trust.
The concat demuxer adjusts timestamps so the first file starts at zero and later files follow it. Missing or inaccurate duration information can cause timing artifacts; where durations are known and reliable, explicit duration directives may help. If your files do not have compatible streams, normalize them or use FFmpeg’s concat filter, which is intended for concatenation workflows that re-encode.

How do you send the playlist to YouTube Live?
In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, open the settings for the live event and copy its server URL and stream key. YouTube’s guide to connecting an encoder explains how those event values are used: Connect your encoder to YouTube Live. Do not paste a real key into a public script or article.
This is a structural command template, not a tested one-size-fits-all preset. Replace the output URL with the ingest URL and key provided for your event:

-f flv 'rtmps://YOUTUBE_INGEST_URL/STREAM_KEY'The example assumes 30 fps: a GOP of 60 frames gives a two-second keyframe interval. Its 4,500 Kbps video bitrate is illustrative, not a universal YouTube recommendation. Choose the output resolution and frame rate first, then select a bitrate from YouTube’s current codec- and resolution-specific table. The command encodes H.264 video and AAC audio, and uses the FLV muxer for the RTMP-family output.

YouTube’s current live encoder settings recommend RTMP/RTMPS, constant bitrate (CBR), supported codecs, and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists AAC or MP3 audio. The example’s stereo AAC at 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps falls within its published recommendations. Bitrate depends on codec, resolution, and frame rate: for example, YouTube’s current table recommends 10 Mbps for H.264 at 1080p30. That figure does not apply to every output configuration.

- Replace
playlist.txtwith your playlist filename and confirm the video and audio settings match your chosen output. - Replace the sample RTMPS destination with the exact server URL and stream key for the event. Keep the key confidential.
- Start with a representative test, then preview the incoming feed in Live Control Room. Check that the picture, Hindi audio, transitions, and stream health look and sound right before relying on it for an event.
YouTube recommends testing with representative motion and audio and monitoring stream health during the broadcast. If your FFmpeg build lacks the selected encoder, choose an available supported encoder or install a build that includes it.
How do you keep the playlist playing?
A concat playlist is finite: FFmpeg processes its entries and reaches the end of input. FFmpeg’s -stream_loop -1 option loops an input indefinitely, but it should not be treated as a guaranteed way to repeat every entry in a concat playlist as a complete sequence.

If you need the whole list to repeat continuously, use a repeat strategy that explicitly regenerates or replays the ordered playlist, then test end-of-list behavior, timestamp continuity, and audio transitions. The command above streams one pass; it does not promise an uninterrupted 24/7 replay.

When should you use the concat filter or HLS instead?
Use the concat filter when clips need re-encoding
The concat demuxer can avoid re-encoding when the files have compatible streams. The concat filter is the more appropriate choice when different source files need normalization and re-encoding. Account for the additional processing required, and verify that the output streams meet YouTube’s ingest settings.

Use HLS only when its ingest workflow fits
YouTube documents HLS ingestion for HDR or codecs that RTMP does not support. It is not a drop-in replacement for the RTMPS template: YouTube’s HLS setup guidance calls for 1–4 second segments, TS format, a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments, HTTPS POST/PUT, and no byte ranges. YouTube also describes HLS as higher latency than RTMP. Follow its HLS-specific setup instructions if you select that workflow.

- FFmpeg rejects the playlist or reports unsafe paths: Check that the concat signature is the first line with no byte-order mark, paths are correctly quoted, and relative filenames are valid. Use
-safe 0only if the playlist is trusted and needs paths rejected by the default safe mode. - The files fail to concatenate or the output has artifacts: Check whether all inputs have matching stream layouts, codecs, and time bases. Normalize or re-encode incompatible files, or use the concat filter. Confirm duration information if timestamps are wrong.
- YouTube does not receive the feed: Verify the event-specific server URL and stream key, the RTMPS destination syntax, network access, and that FFmpeg’s output encoder is available. Never troubleshoot by publishing the key.
- YouTube reports a stream-health or encoding issue: Confirm CBR, supported codecs, the bitrate for your exact resolution and frame rate, and a two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds). Preview a representative test and watch Live Control Room’s stream-health indicators.
- The playlist stops: Reaching the last listed file is expected for a finite concat input. An input loop flag alone is not a guarantee that the entire list repeats; validate your chosen repeat strategy at the boundary.

Having a file locally does not establish that you have the rights to broadcast its video, music, or other material. Before streaming Hindi songs, films, devotional recordings, or other third-party content, check that your license or permission covers live streaming on YouTube. YouTube may detect or restrict content, and a technically healthy FFmpeg stream does not resolve copyright or channel-policy issues. Review YouTube’s event settings and applicable platform rules before going live.
