You can use Samsung’s built-in Second Screen feature to connect a compatible Galaxy Tab wirelessly to a Windows PC that supports Wireless Display. Samsung’s documented setup does not cover Mac; for a Mac, Duet advertises Android-device second-display support, but check its current compatibility and terms before installing.
Check whether your devices are supported
Samsung’s built-in Second Screen workflow is for a Galaxy Tab and a Windows PC with Wireless Display support. Compatibility depends on the tablet model and software, as well as the PC’s wireless adapter, graphics hardware and drivers. Samsung’s regional guidance differs, so check the support page for your country and exact devices before troubleshooting the connection.

Galaxy Tab requirements vary by Samsung page
Samsung US lists Galaxy Tab S7, S8, S9 and S10 models running One UI 3.1 or later. Samsung Korea’s support article, dated 2024-12-06, lists newer S11 models and specified S10, S9, S8, S7 and Active variants, with One UI 5.1.1 or later. Samsung’s Connected Experience page gives a similar S7-onward series list and recommends One UI 6.1.1 or later. These are not identical universal requirements; verify your model and regional listing at Samsung US support, Samsung Korea support and Samsung Connected Experience.

Windows requirements also differ
Samsung US says Windows 10 version 2004 or later, while Samsung’s Connected Experience page says Windows 10 version 20H2 or later. Samsung Korea recommends a Galaxy Book running Windows 11 version 24H2 or later and notes that wireless adapter, graphics hardware and drivers must support the feature. A newer Windows version alone does not guarantee that a PC can project to the tablet.

Connect the Galaxy Tab wirelessly to Windows
- On the tablet: Open Quick Settings and tap Second screen. Leave the Second Screen screen open while you pair.
- On the PC: Press Windows+K to open the wireless display connection panel, then select the Galaxy Tab. Samsung also documents a Second Screen or display-settings route for some PC setups; follow the route shown for your device.
- Choose how to use the display: Open Windows display settings and select Extend to add separate desktop space, or Duplicate to show the same image on both screens. Arrange the displays and adjust scaling or resolution in those settings.
- Disconnect: On Windows, press Windows+K and select Disconnect.
Samsung US recommends keeping the devices close and connected to the same Wi-Fi network for best results. A stable connection and compatible wireless and graphics drivers are prerequisites; Samsung’s guidance does not provide measured latency, image quality, refresh rate or battery-use figures.
Can a Galaxy Tab be a second screen for a Mac?
Samsung’s built-in Second Screen instructions describe Windows as the host, not Mac. For a Mac, Duet advertises connectivity between macOS and Android devices for second-display use. That is a third-party option, not Samsung’s native workflow. Confirm current macOS and Galaxy Tab compatibility, supported connection modes, requirements and terms with Duet before relying on it; the cited product information does not establish those specifics.

What about connecting with a USB cable?
Samsung Korea describes USB connection as experimental and specifies Windows 11 version 24H2 on the PC and One UI 7.0 or later on the tablet. This is a narrowly qualified option, not a general plug-and-play feature: a USB-C cable by itself does not make Second Screen work. Check Samsung’s current instructions for the exact setup before trying it.
