Use the screen state that best fits the task: the cover screen for quick, easy-to-reach actions, the open screen when you need more room, and Flex mode for supported hands-free use. If unwanted touches happen in a pocket, adjust wake and accidental-touch settings where available. Those settings address storage-related wake-ups; they are not documented as a fix for fingers or palms touching screen edges during active use.
First identify when the unwanted touch happens
The right fix depends on the situation. A screen that wakes in a pocket or bag is different from an edge touch while you are holding and using the phone.

- When the phone wakes: review motion and gesture wake options.
- During active use: change how you hold or position the phone, or switch display states. Samsung does not describe Accidental touch protection as active-use palm rejection.
Choose the screen state for the task

Samsung’s original Galaxy Fold guidance recommended separate cover- and main-screen home screens so frequently used apps could be arranged for easier reach. That is general layout advice from 2019, not a guarantee that a particular screen state will feel comfortable on every current foldable. Samsung’s Flex mode guide describes supported Galaxy foldables being placed on a surface for compatible apps; check your model and app for support.

- Open Settings > Display > Accidental touch protection and turn it on if the option is available. Samsung describes this setting as keeping the screen off in dark places such as pockets and bags. Menu names and availability can differ by model and software version. See Samsung Canada’s guidance.
- If the phone still wakes while stored, open Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures. Consider turning off Lift to wake or Double tap to turn on screen if present. Samsung notes that labels and availability vary; consult its pocket-or-bag wake-up steps for your device.
- Test the phone in the same storage situation that caused the problem. If it continues, check the relevant model’s support instructions rather than assuming every Galaxy foldable has identical controls.
Accidental touch protection is documented for dark storage contexts. It should not be treated as a universal palm-rejection setting for active use.

Do not confuse touch sensitivity with palm rejection
On supported Samsung phones, Touch sensitivity is intended to improve responsiveness in situations such as using a screen protector or gloves. It is not documented as a way to suppress a palm resting on the screen edge. Samsung also notes that a loose or damaged screen protector can reduce responsiveness and a wet screen may respond poorly. Make active use easier without assuming a setting will block your hand
- Try the cover screen for quick tasks if its size and layout make the controls easier to reach.
- Open the phone when the task benefits from the larger screen, and arrange frequently used apps with reach in mind.
- For compatible tasks, prop the phone in Flex mode on a stable, flat surface so you do not have to hold it continuously. Model and app support vary.
- If you use a case or stand, treat it as optional and confirm it fits the exact model, including around the hinge. No cited guidance establishes a particular accessory as a solution to active-use edge touches.
Motorola documents a one-handed mode for the Edge 50 that shifts the interface into thumb-friendly reach. This is a device-specific feature, not a setting that can be assumed on other foldables. See Motorola’s Edge 50 instructions.

Use cases and screen film only for the problems they address
Samsung Canada says flip- or wallet-style cases can help block accidental touches when a Galaxy phone is stored in a pocket or bag. That storage benefit is not evidence that a case prevents a finger or palm from contacting the screen edge during active use.
