Choose Dragon’s Dogma 2 for action and party tactics
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the closer match if you want combat decisions to shape encounters. Capcom describes it as a single-player, narrative-driven action RPG; PlayStation highlights reacting to enemies, exploiting weaknesses and using the surroundings. You can customize the Arisen and main Pawn, then hire two additional Pawns through in-game options or online.

Online hiring does not make the game multiplayer: Steam lists it as single-player. The companion system is a way to assemble your party, not evidence of co-op play.
Choose Skyrim for the Elder Scrolls experience and bundled content
If what you want is specifically an Elder Scrolls RPG, Skyrim is the direct choice. Anniversary Edition includes the core game, the Dawnguard, Dragonborn and Hearthfire add-ons, plus Creation Club content such as additional quests, weapons, armor, spells and dungeons, according to Bethesda.

That bundle description applies to Anniversary Edition; it should not be assumed to describe every Skyrim edition on every platform. Bethesda says content and availability can vary by region and platform.

Dragon’s Dogma 2
Capcom’s November 2023 announcement listed PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and scheduled the game for March 22, 2024. Steam lists March 21, 2024. Capcom announced Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen for Switch 2, with the base game and expansion content, for October 9, 2026. That date is still in the future as of October 7, 2026; check its current release status before making a purchase decision. Capcom announcement.
Skyrim Anniversary Edition
Bethesda confirms Anniversary Edition availability on Switch 2 and says its physical edition is code-in-box. Physical-edition content redemption requires an internet connection according to Bethesda’s FAQ. Check the platform-specific product details and local availability; Bethesda notes that prices and availability may differ by region or platform.

A note on sales figures
Capcom reported more than 7.9 million Dragon’s Dogma series units sold cumulatively as of September 30, 2023. That is a series-wide figure, not sales of Dragon’s Dogma 2 alone, and it is not a head-to-head comparison with Skyrim. Capcom, 2023.
