To copy pictures from a Samsung Galaxy to a Windows PC, connect the unlocked phone with a data-capable USB cable, allow access to phone data if prompted, select the phone’s file-transfer USB mode, then copy the images in File Explorer from Internal storage > DCIM > Camera. For another destination, choose a nearby-device transfer, cloud sync, removable storage, or phone-to-phone migration instead.

If a picture is not in Camera, open it in Gallery and check its details for the file path. Samsung’s Australia guide identifies the Gallery image details Path field as a way to locate the original file.

Send selected pictures to a nearby device with Quick Share

Use Quick Share when you want to send selected files to a compatible device nearby, rather than create a cloud backup or archive. Select the pictures in Gallery, use the Share option, choose Quick Share, then select the receiving device and follow the prompts. Availability depends on the model, software, and carrier; check the current visibility setting if the recipient cannot find your phone. Samsung advises care when sharing sensitive images and describes Private Share as a security option. Its One UI 5 guidance says the phone may detect images containing personal information and prompt about Private Share.

Get photos onto another device with OneDrive

Turn on Gallery sync

In Gallery, open Menu > Settings and choose Sync with OneDrive or Cloud sync. Sign in with a personal Microsoft account if prompted and complete the on-screen setup. Synced photos and videos appear in the Gallery folder in OneDrive, which you can access by signing in to OneDrive on another device. Menu names and availability can vary.

Copy pictures to removable storage

Samsung documents copying or moving media through My Files to microSD or USB OTG storage. The steps and availability depend on the Galaxy model and the external device. Not every model supports microSD, and some external drives may require more power than the phone can provide; verify compatibility for both before relying on an accessory.

Move pictures as part of a phone switch

Choose Smart Switch when moving to another phone or tablet and you want to migrate broader device content, not just a handful of pictures. Samsung describes both wireless and wired transfer flows, including USB OTG. Follow the Smart Switch prompts on both devices and use the connection type supported by your setup.

Use Link to Windows for convenient access, not as an archive export

Samsung describes Link to Windows as a way to sync recent images for convenient PC access. Its preview-style access is not the same as copying a complete photo archive. If you need a direct file copy, use USB and File Explorer.
