Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →To upgrade the six listed Workshop stations in ARC Raiders, collect the materials for each station’s next level: the requirements differ by station and rise from basic parts to specialized components and ARC enemy drops. The free Workbench is described separately and has no upgrade cost listed. Use the checklist below to plan one station at a time, and verify requirements in your game because these values can change with patches.
How Workshop upgrades work
The Workshop reference lists six upgradeable stations—Gunsmith, Gear Bench, Medical Lab, Explosives Station, Utility Station and Refiner—with requirements for levels 1 through 3. It describes the Workbench as a free basic crafting station, but does not list an upgrade path for it. The quantities below come from the third-party ARC Raiders Hub Workshop reference; treat them as a planning checklist, not a guarantee that every live build has identical costs.

Each level line below gives the materials listed for that station level. Keep the station name and level with your checklist: sharing a material name does not mean that requirements are interchangeable, and several stations call for components or enemy drops that are specific to their own progression.
Think of an upgrade as a station-specific shopping list rather than one Workshop-wide pool of requirements. The reference provides a separate entry for each station and level, so the quantities for Gunsmith level 2 do not tell you what Gear Bench level 2 needs. If you intend to advance more than one station, add each station’s requirements independently and keep duplicate material types in the combined budget.

The listed progression also changes in character as you move through the levels. The level 1 lists use familiar materials such as Metal Parts, Rubber Parts, Plastic Parts, Fabric and Chemicals, alongside ARC Alloy or ARC Powercells for some stations. Levels 2 and 3 name more specialized components and ARC-related items. That shift makes it useful to plan ahead for the specific later-level items you need, without assuming that collecting general-purpose parts alone will complete an upgrade.
All station upgrade requirements
Use the tables as a precise checklist: the number before each item is the quantity listed for that station and level. A dash or absent item should not be read as an implied requirement; only the materials shown in the row are listed by ARC Raiders Hub. This is especially useful when comparing stations at the same level, since the level number does not mean that two stations share a cost profile.
Gunsmith
Use this station’s list when planning its upgrades. The later levels shift from common parts to tools, mechanical components and ARC components. The level 1 entry is the only Gunsmith row that calls for the named Metal Parts and Rubber Parts; its later entries instead specify Rusted Tools or Rusted Gears, mechanical components and named ARC drops. If you are saving parts for another station as well, count those requirements separately.
| Level | Materials listed |
|---|---|
| 1 | 20 Metal Parts; 30 Rubber Parts |
| 2 | 3 Rusted Tools; 5 Mechanical Components; 8 Wasp Drivers |
| 3 | 3 Rusted Gears; 5 Advanced Mechanical Components; 4 Sentinel Firing Cores |
Gear Bench
The Gear Bench begins with plastic and fabric, then requires electrical components and increasingly specialized materials. In particular, its level 2 and level 3 lists both use electrical components, but they are not the same item: level 2 calls for Electrical Components and level 3 for Advanced Electrical Components. The table lists five of each at their respective levels, so a player planning both levels should track both quantities.
| Level | Materials listed |
|---|---|
| 1 | 25 Plastic Parts; 30 Fabric |
| 2 | 3 Power Cables; 5 Electrical Components; 5 Hornet Drivers |
| 3 | 3 Industrial Batteries; 5 Advanced Electrical Components; 6 Bastion Cells |
Medical Lab
Its listed requirements combine fabric and ARC Alloy at level 1 with medical items and ARC-related materials at the later levels. The list becomes more specific as it advances: Cracked Bioscanners, Durable Cloth and Tick Pods are the level 2 items, while level 3 names Rusted Shut Medical Kits, Antiseptises and Surveyor Vaults. Preserve the exact item names on your checklist so a similar-sounding item is not mistaken for the required one.
| Level | Materials listed |
|---|---|
| 1 | 50 Fabric; 6 ARC Alloy |
| 2 | 2 Cracked Bioscanners; 5 Durable Cloth; 8 Tick Pods |
| 3 | 3 Rusted Shut Medical Kits; 8 Antiseptics; 5 Surveyor Vaults |
Explosives Station
Plan for chemicals and ARC Alloy at the first listed level, followed by fuel, explosives and specialized drops. The level 2 and level 3 entries are not interchangeable broad categories: Synthesized Fuel, Crude Explosives, Pop Triggers, Laboratory Reagents, Explosive Compounds and Rocketeer Drivers are individually named requirements. Use the amounts in each row rather than assuming that a general stock of explosive materials will cover every listed item.

| 1 | 50 Chemicals; 6 ARC Alloy |
| 2 | 3 Synthesized Fuel; 5 Crude Explosives; 5 Pop Triggers |
| 3 | 3 Laboratory Reagents; 5 Explosive Compounds; 3 Rocketeer Drivers |
Utility Station
The Utility Station starts with plastic parts and ARC Alloy. Its later requirements include electrical parts and ARC components. This creates one direct overlap with Gear Bench: both level 2 lists call for five Electrical Components, and both level 3 lists call for five Advanced Electrical Components. If you plan to upgrade both stations through those levels, the listed totals across just those two stations are 10 Electrical Components and 10 Advanced Electrical Components—not five of each shared between them.
| Level | Materials listed |
|---|---|
| 1 | 50 Plastic Parts; 6 ARC Alloy |
| 2 | 2 Damaged Heat Sinks; 5 Electrical Components; 6 Snitch Scanners |
| 3 | 3 Fried Motherboards; 5 Advanced Electrical Components; 4 Leaper Pulse Units |
Refiner
The Refiner’s listed upgrade costs start with metal parts and ARC Powercells, then move to machine parts and ARC components. Its level 1 requirement of 60 Metal Parts plus the Gunsmith’s 20 Metal Parts means a plan for both of those listed level 1 upgrades totals 80 Metal Parts. Do not confuse that limited calculation with a full-game total: it covers only those two table entries.
| Level | Materials listed |
|---|---|
| 1 | 60 Metal Parts; 5 ARC Powercells |
| 2 | 3 Toasters; 5 ARC Motion Cores; 8 Fireball Burners |
| 3 | 3 Motors; 10 ARC Circuitry; 6 Bombardier Cells |
ARC Raiders Hub lists the requirements above; check the station’s current in-game requirement if a live patch shows a different quantity or item name. The reference is third-party and patch-sensitive.
Which station should you upgrade first?
There is no source-established universal best order. The useful question is which station’s crafting category supports the blueprints and equipment you actually intend to use. A station upgrade is most valuable when its next level helps with a near-term crafting goal; collecting for every station at once can spread your effort across six different material lists.
Compare your options on three practical axes: what crafting category the station serves, what the next listed level costs, and whether you currently need that station’s outputs. The station names and the listed materials help distinguish their roles and costs, but the available guides do not establish that one station is objectively more important for all players. A player following one equipment plan may value a different station than someone pursuing another blueprint. Your own intended output, not a generic tier list, is the reason to choose an order.
Prioritize by your next crafting goal
- Start with the station tied to your planned outputs. Match your current blueprint or equipment goal to the relevant station rather than upgrading simply because a requirement is available.
- Make the Refiner an early candidate if refined components are your bottleneck. Its stated role is converting materials into advanced components, so it may be useful when those components are central to your crafting plans. That does not make it the best first upgrade for every player. TheArcRaiders.com’s workshop guide discusses the Refiner in its station coverage.
- Set a stopping point. Choose the next level you need, record its listed requirements, and reassess after meeting them. Do not assume the level 3 list is necessary just because it appears in the full checklist.
- Look at the next level, not only the station’s current level. For example, an upgrade’s immediate checklist is its own row. If you have no current reason to pursue the next row after that, you can pause instead of collecting all three levels’ items preemptively.
Use a station-by-station materials ledger
Track each station and level separately, including items already collected. Mark a requirement complete only when you have the named item and the full quantity. This matters especially when the same broad category appears in multiple places: for example, Electrical Components are listed for both Gear Bench and Utility Station level 2, while Advanced Electrical Components appear in both level 3 lists. If you are pursuing both, budget for both quantities instead of treating one stack as satisfying two separate costs.

For a practical ledger, use columns for station, target level, required item, required quantity, held quantity and remaining quantity. This is a planning method rather than an in-game feature; it makes it easier to direct each return to the station you have chosen to advance.
A simple remaining-quantity calculation is required quantity minus held quantity, with the result never treated as less than zero. For instance, if your chosen level needs five Electrical Components and your ledger shows three held, the shortfall is two for that line. If you then decide to pursue Utility Station level 2 too, add its five-component requirement as a separate line. This avoids both overcounting a shared stack and undercounting a material needed by two upgrades.
It can also help to separate a near-term target from future targets. Keep the next upgrade’s required items prominent, and note later-level requirements in a separate section. That way, an uncommon item on the level 3 list does not distract from a level 1 or level 2 upgrade you can actually complete now. The tables provide the exact quantities for all listed levels; the order in which you gather them is your planning choice.

How to plan a run for upgrade materials
The checklist identifies what to collect, but it does not establish reliable spawn locations, drop rates or a guaranteed route for each item. Avoid planning around a location or rate that may no longer apply. A guide specifically focused on item locations is Acer Corner’s ARC Raiders Workshop upgrade item guide; cross-check any location advice against the game’s current version.
- Choose one target level. Pick the station upgrade most connected to your current crafting plans, then copy its exact listed requirements from the table.
- Identify the missing items. Compare the full list with what you currently hold. Keep the uncommon named items visible on your checklist rather than only noting a general category such as mechanical or electrical parts.
- Use current item-location information cautiously. If you consult a route or farming guide, check its date and patch context. The sources here do not establish item spawn rates or prove that one route is optimal.
- Update the ledger after each run. Record what you actually brought back and recalculate the remainder. This prevents collecting additional quantities for a requirement already met while overlooking a different item in the same level list.
- Verify the live station requirement before spending or committing materials. If the game’s current display differs from this third-party checklist, follow the in-game requirement for that build.
This method is deliberately focused on accuracy, not on promising a universal farming route. The available item-location guide is relevant because it addresses where to find upgrade items, but the station cost reference does not supply rates, guaranteed drops or a route that works for every item. Use location advice to inform where you look, then let what you actually collect update your ledger.
Keep exact names in the ledger for the ARC-related entries, too. Drivers, Cells, Cores, Scanners, Burners and Pulse Units are not generic placeholders in the table; they are distinct listed items. A note that says only “ARC drops” is too broad to tell you whether a particular row is complete. The same goes for crafted or component-like entries such as Advanced Mechanical Components and Advanced Electrical Components: preserve the full name and listed count.

What older aggregate totals do—and do not—tell you
PC Gamer’s November 2025 guide reported aggregate needs of 80 Metal Parts, 80 Rubber Parts and 80 Fabric among the station upgrades it covered. Those are historical figures from that guide’s coverage, not a verified total for every station and level in the game today. In particular, they should not be treated as a complete 2026 shopping list after later progression additions. See PC Gamer’s dated loot guide for that historical context.
Recommended Free Tools
For current planning, the station-by-station requirements are more actionable than a single combined total: they show which level needs each item, while a historical aggregate can conceal which station or version it counted. Sum quantities yourself only for the particular upgrades you intend to complete, and confirm those totals against the live game.
These older figures are still useful as a dated reference point, but they need context. The six-station checklist above is a station-by-station list from ARC Raiders Hub, while PC Gamer’s 2025 numbers describe the upgrades covered in that separate guide. Do not combine them into a single current total without verifying that the versions and scope match. One calculation you can safely make from the table is limited to the rows you choose: Gunsmith level 1 requires 20 Metal Parts and Refiner level 1 requires 60, so those two rows together require 80 Metal Parts. That arithmetic does not establish the requirements for every other upgrade or a complete present-day total.

The Outpost and Research Station are described as an additional progression layer, not as a seventh and eighth station in the original six-station Workshop checklist. A guide about the October 8, 2026 Frozen Trail 2.0 update says the Outpost unlocks after completing the Sheltered Retreat project, and that Research Station levels are tied to Outpost levels. It also says the Research Station unlocks weapon-amplification research. These details come from a third-party guide rather than an official patch-note source, so confirm the unlock condition and current progression in-game. TheArcRaiders.com’s guide describes that Outpost and Research Station context.
Keep the two progression tracks distinct when budgeting: the six station costs in the tables are the original Workshop reference’s station requirements; the available cited material does not give a full Research Station cost table. Do not assume an Outpost or Research Station cost is included in the older station totals.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThis distinction matters if you are following both systems. The Workshop checklist answers which materials the six original upgradeable stations list through level 3. The newer Outpost guide adds a separate unlock and Research Station progression context, but does not give enough cost detail here to calculate that track’s total. Treat its description as a sign to check the live Outpost and Research Station requirements in game, not as a reason to append guessed costs to one of the six tables.

Common planning mistakes to avoid
- Using an old total as a current all-upgrade requirement. The 2025 aggregate numbers are dated and limited to that article’s coverage.
- Collecting without naming the target upgrade. The six stations use different item mixes, so a vague goal such as “gather upgrade materials” can leave you short on one named component.
- Assuming a universal upgrade order. The sources do not establish one; use your own blueprint and equipment priorities.
- Assuming every station has levels beyond those listed. The cited original Workshop reference supplies levels 1–3 for the six upgradeable stations. It does not establish what may have changed in a later patch.
- Mixing Workshop and Outpost progression. The newer guide describes Research Station progression in the Outpost context; keep its requirements separate unless the current game explicitly links them.
- Treating an item-location guide as proof of a permanent spawn. Locations and drops can change. Verify current information rather than relying on an undated route as a guarantee.
- Counting a shared material only once when two stations need it. Gear Bench and Utility Station each list five Electrical Components at level 2 and five Advanced Electrical Components at level 3. If both are targets, plan for the quantities on both station rows.
- Collecting ahead without a reason. All three listed levels may be useful as a long-term checklist, but the next level you need is a more practical immediate target. Keep later requirements noted without letting them obscure a near-term upgrade.
- Assuming a component label is interchangeable with a related one. The tables distinguish basic and advanced components and specify named ARC items. Use the item name as written and verify the current in-game entry if names or requirements change.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many Workshop stations can you upgrade?
The ARC Raiders Hub Workshop reference lists six upgradeable stations: Gunsmith, Gear Bench, Medical Lab, Explosives Station, Utility Station and Refiner. It describes the Workbench as a free basic crafting station and does not list an upgrade path for it.
What materials do you need for Gunsmith level 1?
The listed Gunsmith level 1 requirement is 20 Metal Parts and 30 Rubber Parts. Verify the station’s live requirement in game if a patch has changed it.
Which Workshop stations need Electrical Components?
Gear Bench level 2 and Utility Station level 2 each list five Electrical Components. Both stations’ level 3 entries also list five Advanced Electrical Components apiece, so add the quantities separately if you plan to upgrade both.
Which station should I upgrade first?
The cited guides do not establish a universal best order. Choose the station that supports your current blueprint or equipment goal. The Refiner may be useful early if converting materials into advanced components is important to your crafting plans, but it is not automatically the best first choice for everyone.
Does the Workbench need materials to upgrade?
The reference describes the Workbench as a free basic crafting station and does not provide a material upgrade path for it. The six cost tables cover Gunsmith, Gear Bench, Medical Lab, Explosives Station, Utility Station and Refiner.
Are the PC Gamer material totals a current full-game checklist?
No. PC Gamer’s November 2025 guide reported 80 Metal Parts, 80 Rubber Parts and 80 Fabric among the station upgrades it covered. Those dated aggregate figures are not verified totals for every current station and level, especially after newer progression additions.
How does the Outpost Research Station relate to Workshop upgrades?
A guide describing the October 8, 2026 Frozen Trail 2.0 update says the Outpost unlocks by completing the Sheltered Retreat project and that Research Station levels are tied to Outpost levels. It describes weapon-amplification research there, but does not provide a full Research Station cost table. Confirm the current details in game.

Acer Corner has a guide focused on Workshop upgrade item locations, but the station cost reference does not establish guaranteed spawn locations, drop rates or a best route. Check the location guide’s date and patch context, then verify what you actually collect against your station-by-station checklist.
The Bottom Line
Use the six station tables to identify the exact materials and quantities for the next Workshop level you want, then track each requirement separately. There is no universal best upgrade order, and the Refiner is a priority only if its advanced-component conversion helps your plans. Treat PC Gamer’s 2025 aggregate totals as historical, keep the Outpost Research Station track separate, and confirm all requirements in game because costs can change with patches.
