Safari updates arrive through the operating system on your Apple device; there is no separate Safari installer to download. On a Mac, open Apple menu > System Settings > General > Software Update. On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings > General > Software Update, then install an update if one is offered. The available version depends on your device and the operating-system versions it supports. Apple’s Safari update guidance explains that Safari is included with the operating system.

Why Safari versions differ between Apple devices
Safari is delivered with the operating system, so the Safari version available to you depends on which macOS, iOS, or iPadOS versions your device supports. Apple’s release record lists Safari 27, dated September 14, 2026, for macOS Sequoia and macOS Tahoe; it also lists Safari 26.6.1, dated August 18, 2026, for macOS Sonoma and macOS Sequoia. These release entries show that supported macOS branches can receive different Safari version numbers; they do not mean every device can install the same version. Check Software Update for the release compatible with your device. Apple’s security releases lists the releases.

If no update appears
On a Mac
Software Update only offers software compatible with your Mac model. If it reports that your Mac is up to date, a newer major macOS release may not be supported by that hardware. Check Software Update again for any compatible update rather than looking for a standalone Safari download.

Some updates are not available wirelessly. Apple says you can use a computer to update the device if an update you need does not appear on the device. A VPN or proxy connection might also prevent the device from reaching Apple’s update servers. Apple’s update guidance includes computer-update options and troubleshooting.
