To update a Logitech G29, use Logitech G HUB if it detects the wheel and offers an update. Keep the wheel connected to USB and stable power until G HUB finishes. These precautions reduce avoidable interruption, but Logitech does not guarantee that an update cannot brick the wheel or document a G29-specific interruption-safe procedure.
Before you start: confirm the wheel and update software
These steps apply to the Logitech G29 Driving Force wheel. Logitech lists support for Windows 10 and 11, macOS, and PlayStation 3, 4, and 5. On Mac, G HUB is for firmware updates only, according to Logitech’s G29 specifications.

Install or open Logitech G HUB on a computer. Logitech documents G29 firmware updates in G HUB. Do not assume Logi Options+ supports this wheel: Logitech’s general recommendation for that app applies to supported devices, and the reviewed G29 materials do not establish G29 compatibility.

Safe steps to update G29 firmware
- Connect the wheel directly to the computer. Avoid a USB hub. Logitech’s G29 troubleshooting guidance advises against hubs.
- Connect the power adapter to a stable wall outlet. Logitech recommends a direct outlet when troubleshooting power issues; avoid disconnecting or switching off power during the update.
- Open G HUB and let it detect the G29. If the software offers a firmware update, follow its on-screen prompts. Do not unplug the USB cable or power adapter while G HUB says the update is in progress. Keeping both connected is a sensible precaution, not a formal G29 firmware procedure documented by Logitech.
- Wait for G HUB to indicate completion. Only then disconnect the wheel, if needed, and check whether G HUB detects it and whether it operates normally.
What firmware version is listed, and what does it change?
Logitech’s release notes list G29 firmware version 164.1.11 in G HUB version 2026.1, released February 3, 2026. The listed change is improved authentication stability in PS5 mode. The same release-notes page lists G HUB version 2026.6, dated September 2, 2026; that later G HUB release does not change the date or version of the G29 firmware entry. If G HUB does not offer an update
Do not force a firmware file from an unverified download. Logitech states that its legacy Firmware Update Tool “is no longer supported or maintained by Logitech,” so it is not a recommended workaround. The G29 support materials reviewed do not provide a separate update procedure to use when G HUB offers no update.
If the wheel is not detected or stops responding
First let G HUB finish any update it still reports as in progress; do not interrupt it to try recovery steps. If no update is running and the wheel is not detected, Logitech’s setup and troubleshooting guidance suggests testing it on a computer and trying another USB port. Avoid unofficial firmware or unverified recovery methods. If the wheel remains unresponsive, contact Logitech support or check warranty coverage rather than experimenting further.

Do not confuse the platform switch with firmware mode
The G29’s platform switch is behind the RPM indicator lights and should be set before connecting the wheel to a gaming platform. Logitech says to set it to PS4 for PC use. On PS3, supported games identify the wheel as a Driving Force GT; the clutch, RPM lights, and optional shifter do not function. These are platform-use settings, not a special firmware flashing mode.
