Update Chrome differently depending on your device: on Windows or Mac, check from Chrome’s About Google Chrome page; on Android, use Google Play; on iPhone or iPad, use the App Store. Desktop updates may need a browser restart, while mobile updates are managed by your device’s app-store settings.
Update Chrome on Windows or Mac
- Open Chrome.
- Select the three-dot More menu in the upper-right corner.
- Choose Help, then About Google Chrome.
- Leave the About page open while Chrome checks for an update. If one is ready, select Relaunch to install it. If there is no Relaunch button, Google says Chrome is already on the latest version available to it.
Chrome normally downloads updates in the background and applies them after you close and reopen the browser. If you choose Not now instead of Relaunch, the pending update is applied the next time Chrome restarts. Google says open tabs and windows are restored after restart, but Incognito windows are not. On Windows, close Chrome windows and tabs, then open Chrome again. On Mac, Chrome installed in the Applications folder has an option to automatically update Chrome for all users. Update Chrome on Linux or Chromebook
- Linux: Update Chrome using your Linux package manager rather than following the Windows and Mac menu steps. Google Chrome Help: Update Google Chrome.

Update Chrome on Android
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Tap your profile icon.
- Choose Manage apps & device.
- Under Updates available, find Chrome.
- Tap Update.

Update Chrome on iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store.
- Tap your profile icon.
- Scroll to Available Updates and find Chrome.
- Tap Update. If prompted, enter your Apple ID password.

Google’s support search results have listed different minimum iOS versions for Chrome, so the threshold is not established consistently here; check the current Google support page for the latest compatibility information. If Chrome does not show an update
On desktop, opening About Google Chrome triggers a check; if Relaunch is absent, Google says Chrome is up to date. On Android or iPhone and iPad, check Chrome’s listing in the relevant app store. An update may not appear if no update is currently available for that device, and automatic installation depends on the store settings. Updates do not necessarily become available on every device at the same time.
