If Kaspersky will not uninstall on Windows 8, first identify the exact product and version, then use its own Setup Wizard. Consumer Kaspersky apps and Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Windows follow different removal paths. A removal password, a pending restart, or organization-managed permissions can also prevent the process from finishing.
Identify which Kaspersky product is installed
Before trying another removal method, note the full product name and version shown in Programs and Features or in the Kaspersky interface. Also establish whether the computer runs Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, and whether it belongs to a workplace or school. Kaspersky’s consumer instructions and its Endpoint Security instructions are separate workflows; menu labels can also vary by product generation.

Kaspersky’s consumer help page, “How to uninstall the application” (article ID 43539, last reviewed June 27, 2022), covers Windows 8 or later: Kaspersky consumer uninstall instructions. For Endpoint Security, use the distinct Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Windows removal instructions for the applicable version.
Uninstall a consumer Kaspersky application
Start with the installed application’s removal option rather than a third-party cleanup utility. On Windows 8, the route may begin from its Start-screen tile or shortcut; the exact wording depends on the edition.

- From the Start screen, locate the Kaspersky application. If its tile offers an Uninstall option after you right-click it, select that. In some older product instructions, the tile menu uses Remove.
- If that option is unavailable, open the application’s Uninstall menu, select the listed Kaspersky product, and choose Remove or Edit to launch the Setup Wizard.
- Follow the wizard. If it offers to save selected data for a future installation, review the choices before continuing. Possible retained items include subscription details and other application data. Quarantine files will be unavailable after removal unless Kaspersky is installed again.
- Confirm removal when prompted, then restart the computer when the wizard asks. If you defer an immediate restart, removal is not complete until Windows restarts or the computer is shut down and started again.
If Kaspersky asks for a removal password
When application removal is password-protected, the Setup Wizard requires that password. Kaspersky states: “If you cannot specify the password, for any reason, application removal will be prohibited.” Contact the person who configured the password or, on a managed computer, your IT administrator. Kaspersky’s instructions do not describe bypassing the password as an approved removal step.
If Kaspersky Endpoint Security is installed
Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Windows is an enterprise product and does not use the consumer Start-screen procedure above. Its documented Windows 8/8.1 route is through Control Panel:

Kaspersky Security Center also documents remote removal for administrators managing endpoints. That is an organization-managed process, not a general home-PC fix for a local uninstall failure.

The documented workflows establish the normal removal steps, but they do not establish one consumer cleanup utility that is compatible with every Kaspersky edition on Windows 8. Do not assume an unfamiliar forced-removal download is safe or suitable. Before seeking a product-specific fix, record:
