To remove Covenant Eyes from a Mac, run its built-in uninstaller from Finder’s Applications > Utilities folder. The software is now called Victory Shield, so newer Macs may show “Uninstall Victory Shield” while older installations may still say “Uninstall Covenant Eyes.” You’ll need an uninstall code and your Mac administrator password; removing the app does not cancel the subscription.
Uninstall Victory Shield or Covenant Eyes using its built-in uninstaller

Open Uninstall Victory Shield. If it is an older installation, look for Uninstall Covenant Eyes instead. Installations earlier than version 1.5.0 may have the uninstaller directly in Applications rather than Utilities.

Enter your uninstall code and select Uninstall. If you do not have a code, choose Get Code…, enter your Victory Shield account username and password, and follow the prompts to obtain one. These are account credentials, not your Mac password.

When macOS asks to approve removal of the app or its system extension, enter the Mac’s administrator password. This is the password for an administrator account on the computer, not the password for your Victory Shield account. The installer may request it more than once.

Close the uninstaller when it reports that removal is complete. Restart the Mac if the uninstaller or macOS prompts you to do so.
Covenant Eyes renamed its Mac software Victory Shield in version 3.16, released September 24, 2025. The vendor’s uninstall instructions, updated September 21, 2026, still account for older Covenant Eyes labels.

The uninstaller’s Get Code… option can generate a code using the member’s username and password, including after a subscription has been cancelled, according to the vendor’s Mac uninstall instructions. For the usual online code-generation route, the member needs uninstall permission and an active subscription. If an account administrator has removed that permission, the member cannot generate a code through that route; the administrator can generate one.

The vendor’s support articles, updated March 24, 2026, explain uninstall codes and uninstall permission. If credentials work but the code route is unavailable, distinguish an account-permission issue from a Mac administrator-password prompt: they require different credentials and have different causes.
Fix M622 or M623 during removal
Use the recovery steps for the error shown rather than dragging the app to Trash as the normal first step. The vendor describes M622 and M623 as different Mac uninstall problems.

Choose Reveal VictoryShield.app in Finder when the error appears.

In Finder, right-click the app and move it to Trash. Enter the Mac administrator password if Finder asks; some users may be asked twice.

If the uninstaller then offers to remove the system extension, continue and follow its prompts. The website-filter step appears only for members using that filter.

Open Apple menu > System Settings > Network > Filters.

Select the filter labeled Covenant Eyes or Victory Shield, then click the minus button to remove it.

Continue the M623 prompt and enter the Mac administrator password when requested.

Reveal the matching app in Finder and move it to Trash as directed by the prompt. Restart if prompted.
The vendor’s M623 article, updated April 20, 2026, describes this recovery path. An older installation may display Covenant Eyes rather than Victory Shield in the filter list.
Another error, or instructions that do not match
Do not guess at manual deletion of system files. Contact Covenant Eyes Member Care if the error is different or the on-screen instructions do not match your installation. The vendor’s Mac uninstall support page lists [email protected] and 1.989.720.8000.

Uninstalling is not the same as cancelling
Removing the Mac software does not cancel billing. The vendor says only the account administrator can cancel the subscription. If you intend to stop the subscription, arrange cancellation through the account administrator separately; the vendor recommends uninstalling afterward to avoid software notifications, connection issues, and repeated sign-in prompts.
The vendor says Mac uninstalls are reported by email and recorded in the member’s reporting method. Its device and cancellation guidance was updated March 24 and March 27, 2026, respectively.
Mac compatibility and recent version notes
The vendor lists macOS 11 Big Sur or newer as supported. Its release notes, updated September 14, 2026, identify Mac version 3.21.0 as adding macOS Golden Gate 27 installation support, no longer requiring Rosetta 2 on Apple silicon, and fixing an “Failed to obtain administrator privileges” uninstall issue on macOS 27. The preceding 3.20.2 release, dated September 2, 2026, lists uninstall improvements. These are vendor-reported release changes, not independent tests.
