There is no general iPhone undo button or change history established for arbitrary Settings changes. If you know what changed, open the relevant control and restore its previous value. If you do not, use the behavior that changed to narrow the search, then adjust one setting at a time and test the result.
Start by matching the problem to a settings area
Think about what the iPhone is doing differently, then check the most relevant settings area. This is a troubleshooting approach, not a feature that identifies which setting was changed.

- Display looks different: check Settings > Display & Brightness, then Settings > Accessibility for display-related controls.
- Alerts have changed: check Settings > Notifications and Settings > Focus.
- Location or app access behaves differently: check Settings > Privacy & Security, including the relevant permission.
- A connection is failing: check the relevant Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or cellular settings.
Menu names and paths can vary by iOS version and localization. Apple’s iPhone settings guide describes reset options, not a universal history or undo control for forgotten changes.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsChange one thing, then test
If you find a plausible control, note its current value, change only that control, and check whether the behavior returns to normal. If the problem persists, restore the value you just changed before testing another candidate. This makes each step reversible and helps isolate the cause.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
If someone else may have used the phone, ask whether they changed anything. An app may also have its own settings that affect the behavior. Do not assume iOS keeps a general audit trail of Settings changes.
Choose a reset only if the problem fits its scope
iPhone’s reset menu offers category-specific options, but these reset a category rather than undoing one remembered toggle. The exact options and wording can vary by iOS version. Apple lists options such as Reset Network Settings, Reset Keyboard Dictionary, Reset Home Screen Layout, and Reset Location & Privacy in its reset settings guide.

Reset Network Settings for a network-related problem
Use this only when the issue points to network configuration and you understand what will be removed. Apple says Reset Network Settings removes saved networks and certain VPN settings, disconnects Wi-Fi, and can affect roaming and manually trusted certificates. You may need to reconnect to Wi-Fi and reconfigure affected network settings.
Reset All Settings is a broad preferences reset
Apple says this step is “rarely necessary.” Its Reset All Settings guidance, published May 21, 2026, says the reset returns many preferences to defaults. Affected items include Apple Pay cards, Apple Watch pairings, accessibility, Bluetooth pairings, display, Face ID, Home Screen layout and wallpaper, keyboard dictionary, location, notifications, previously trusted computers and accessories, privacy and security, sounds and haptics, Touch ID, VPN configurations, and Wi-Fi networks.

- Emergency SOS via satellite. Crash Detection. Roadside Assistance via satellite
- Up to 26 hours video playback. USB C, Supports USB 2. Face ID
Apple says Reset All Settings does not delete photos, messages, apps, documents, or other listed data and media. However, you will need to reconnect Wi-Fi and Bluetooth devices, pair Apple Watch again, set up Face ID or Touch ID again, and readjust preferences. For certain Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or other system-feature problems, Apple recommends restarting before resetting all settings.
Do not select Erase All Content and Settings by mistake
Erase All Content and Settings is different from Reset All Settings: it removes content. Before confirming any reset, read the full menu label and check Apple’s guidance for the option you intend to use. A reset is not a way to recover one forgotten value.

Consider a backup restore only as a device-level rollback
An iCloud backup can include device information and settings that do not regularly sync to iCloud, including device settings and Home Screen layout, according to Apple’s Back up iPhone guide. But restoring an iPhone that is already set up from an iCloud backup requires erasing it first. Apple’s backup restore instructions let you choose a backup and compare its date and size.
A restore can roll back far more than one setting. Before considering it, verify that a suitable backup exists and understand the erase-and-restore process. It is not the normal first response to an unexplained change.

Which fix has the smallest impact?
| Approach | What it changes | Personal data erased? | Must erase the iPhone first? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Manually change a setting | The single control you choose. | No. | No. |
| Category-specific reset | Settings within the selected category; for example, Reset Network Settings removes saved networks and certain VPN settings. | Not stated as erasing personal data for these category resets in Apple’s reset guide. | No. |
| Reset All Settings | Many preferences, connections, and pairings; details are listed above. | No, according to Apple’s guidance. | No. |
| Restore from an iCloud backup on an already set-up iPhone | A device-level rollback to the chosen backup. | The iPhone must be erased before restore, according to Apple’s restore instructions. | Yes. |
When the cause is uncertain, manual correction is the narrowest option. Move to a broader reset only when the problem fits that reset’s scope and you accept its effects.
