To turn on Low Power Mode, open Settings > Battery. On iPhone 15 and later, tap Power Mode, then switch on Low Power Mode. On iPhone 14 and earlier, switch on Low Power Mode directly in Battery settings. Apple’s steps vary by model generation.
Turn on Low Power Mode in Settings
- Open Settings and tap Battery.
- If you have an iPhone 15 or later, tap Power Mode, then turn on Low Power Mode.
- If you have an iPhone 14 or earlier, turn on Low Power Mode on the Battery screen.
Use Control Center or Siri instead
Control Center
Apple also lets you switch Low Power Mode from Control Center. If its control is not there yet, add Low Power Mode to Control Center first, then tap the control to turn it on or off. Apple’s iPhone guide explains Control Center customization.

Siri
Ask Siri to turn Low Power Mode on or off.
How to tell whether it is on
When Low Power Mode is active, the battery icon in the status bar turns yellow. Apple Support identifies the yellow icon as the active-mode indicator.
What Low Power Mode changes
Low Power Mode reduces power use by limiting or pausing some features. Apple lists reduced display brightness, some visual effects being turned off, iCloud Photos temporarily paused, automatic downloads and email fetch turned off, and Background App Refresh turned off. Some tasks may take longer. On iPhone 12 and 13, 5G remains available for streaming and large downloads; on iPhones with ProMotion, the display is limited to 60 frames per second while the mode is active. Apple Support describes the feature changes and the iPhone User Guide explains Power Modes.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
When Low Power Mode turns off
It switches off automatically when the iPhone charges to 80% or higher. You can turn it on again manually if you still want to limit power use. Apple documents the 80% shutoff threshold.

On supported iPhones, Adaptive Power can automatically turn on Low Power Mode when the battery reaches 20%, if Adaptive Power is enabled. This automation is optional; you do not need it to switch on Low Power Mode yourself. Check Apple’s current device-support information if you want to know whether your model supports Adaptive Power. Apple’s iPhone User Guide describes Adaptive Power.
