PC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchTo block a website, choose the control that matches who and what you need to restrict: Apple Screen Time for a child’s Apple devices, Google Family Link for a child’s Chrome account, Microsoft Family Safety for supported Edge use, Chrome policies for managed work or school browsers, or a router/proxy setting for Bing SafeSearch across a network. These methods have different coverage: a search filter is not a full site block, and a rule for one domain may not cover its subdomains or regional variants.
Start by identifying the person, device, browser, and site or content category involved. Then use the method whose administrator can enforce the restriction.

Choose a blocking method by scope
| Method | What it can restrict | Who controls it | Important limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple Screen Time / Apps & Websites | Specific websites or broader web categories on a child’s Apple devices | Parent or family organizer | The described experience requires version 27 or later on relevant devices. |
| Google Family Link | Sites and content in a child’s Chrome account | Parent managing the child account | Different subdomains or domain endings may need separate rules. |
| Microsoft Family Safety | Web and search filtering in supported Edge setups | Family organizer | Filtering depends on Edge and the Family Safety apps; unsupported browsers are blocked when the filter is enabled. |
| Chrome Enterprise URL policies | URLs in managed Chrome environments | Work, school, or other Chrome administrator | Not a consumer setting for a personally managed browser; policy interactions and exceptions matter. |
| Router or proxy SafeSearch configuration | Bing search results across a network | Network administrator | Filters search results; it does not block arbitrary websites or all traffic to them. |
For a single site on a child’s device, use the device or child-account controls. For an organization-owned Chrome browser, use managed policy. If the goal is to restrict explicit Bing results for everyone on a network, SafeSearch enforcement may fit. No one method described here guarantees a universal block across every device, browser, app, and network.
Block or filter websites on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac
Apple’s child-safety controls provide both specific site rules and broader filtering. The current guide describes the Apps & Websites experience for devices running version 27 or later of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, or visionOS, with relevant family devices upgraded. See Apple’s guide to blocking or allowing apps and websites.

Block one specific website
- On the parent’s device, open Settings.
- Tap Family, then the child’s name.
- Open Apps & Websites.
- Open Restrictions, then Filtering under Websites.
- Add or select the website in the blocked-site controls and choose Block Website.
Apple’s UK instructions published September 15, 2026 describe this path and action. Labels or availability may vary with software version and region. See Apple Support UK’s parental-controls setup guide.
Choose a broader web filter
- Unrestricted Access: does not apply a web-content restriction.
- Limit Adult Websites: applies a broader adult-content filter; it is not a precise block for one chosen domain.
- Approved Websites Only: limits access to a narrower set of approved sites.
Apple says Ask to Browse is on by default for children under 13 and Limit Adult Websites for children under 18; age-related settings vary by country or region. These defaults are separate from choosing a custom rule. See Apple Support UK’s parental-controls setup guide.

Use Google Family Link for a child’s Chrome account
Family Link includes Chrome content controls, including an option to try blocking explicit sites and controls to block or allow particular sites. The setting applies in the supported child-account context, not as a general block for every browser or device. Google documents the options in Chrome & your child’s Google Account.

Check likely variants of the address. A rule for one domain does not automatically cover a different subdomain or ending, such as a country-code domain. Add separate rules where needed, then check access using the exact addresses the child might visit.

Filter websites with Microsoft Family Safety
Microsoft Family Safety web and search filtering works on Windows, Xbox, and mobile when Microsoft Edge and the Family Safety apps are installed. In the family member’s settings, enable Filter inappropriate websites. Microsoft says this enables filtering in the supported browser, currently Edge; while it is on, unsupported browsers are blocked so the filtering cannot be bypassed by switching to those browsers. Setup is therefore a family-account and supported-browser control, not a universal URL filter for every app. See Microsoft’s Family Safety web and search filtering instructions.
If you are also blocking apps, Microsoft says the procedure must be repeated for each app, device or platform, and family member. See Microsoft’s instructions for blocking or unblocking apps.

Block URLs in managed Chrome for work or school
Chrome Enterprise administrators can set URL blocklist and allowlist policies for managed Chrome environments. This is the appropriate route when an organization manages the browser; a home user who manages only a personal Chrome installation generally cannot set organization policies. Review effective policy values and exceptions together rather than assuming one rule automatically overrides another. Google says Chrome must be restarted after policies are applied. See Chrome Enterprise’s website access policy guidance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsUse network settings for Bing SafeSearch—not general website blocking
Microsoft documents a router or proxy configuration that maps www.bing.com to strict.bing.com to enforce strict Bing SafeSearch results for users on a network. DNS configuration can also be used to force SafeSearch. This affects Bing search results; it does not prevent users from opening an arbitrary website directly or filter all apps and services. Router menus and DNS procedures vary by model and firmware. See Microsoft’s SafeSearch guidance.

Check whether the restriction covers the site and user you intend
- Test the actual address: include subdomains and regional domain variants when setting site-specific rules.
- Check browser coverage: Family Safety filtering depends on its supported Edge setup; Apple and Google controls are tied to their described device or child-account contexts.
- Confirm the control owner: family settings require a family organizer, while Chrome Enterprise policies require an administrator with management access.
- Distinguish a site block from a content filter: adult-content filtering and SafeSearch do not necessarily block one named website across all routes.
- Restart managed Chrome: policy changes require a browser restart according to Google’s administrator guidance.
