To enable a Dell laptop’s built-in privacy screen, open BIOS/System Setup and enable Privacy Screen—but only if the installed display supports e-Privacy. On the Latitude 7300, you can then switch between public and privacy modes with Fn+F9. Menu labels and shortcuts vary by model, and many Dell laptops do not have this integrated feature.
Enable the built-in privacy screen in BIOS

Restart the laptop and enter BIOS/System Setup using the key or procedure in the manual for your exact Dell model. There is no single entry key established here for every Dell laptop.

Open the Video or Display section and look for Privacy Screen. On the Latitude 7300, Dell says the option appears only when the panel supports e-Privacy. See the Latitude 7300 Service Manual’s Video screen options.

Select Enabled if you want to be able to switch privacy mode on or off while using the laptop. Dell lists Always On as another Latitude 7300 setting; it keeps the feature on and cannot be turned off by the user.

Save the BIOS change and exit. On the Latitude 7300, press Fn+F9 to switch between public and privacy modes. If that shortcut does not work on your laptop, check its manual rather than assuming the same key combination applies.
Why there may be no Privacy Screen option
The integrated privacy screen is a capability of a supported display panel, not a software setting available on every Dell laptop. Dell’s Latitude 7300 manual says the BIOS option is conditional on panel support. Its Latitude 7300 specifications list Dynamic Privacy Dell SafeScreen as a display configuration, illustrating that availability depends on the laptop’s specific configuration.

Consult that model’s manual for its BIOS labels and shortcut. A setting or shortcut documented for one Dell model may not exist on another.

If the panel lacks e-Privacy, a software or driver download cannot add the integrated feature.
Built-in privacy screen versus a physical filter
A supported e-Privacy panel provides the integrated feature controlled through the laptop’s settings. A physical privacy filter is a separate accessory attached to the display; it does not use the BIOS option or keyboard shortcut. Dell provides an installation guide for its privacy filter. Before choosing a filter, match it to the screen’s dimensions and aspect ratio.
