If the whole Samsung keyboard has shrunk into a movable window, switch its mode to Standard keyboard. On a phone, go to Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings > Mode > Standard keyboard. On a tablet, open the keyboard and choose Expand (three dots) > Modes > Standard keyboard. If only a small bubble appears above each letter you tap, that is a different setting called Character preview.
Restore the full-width keyboard on a Samsung phone
Samsung describes Standard keyboard as the normal on-screen keyboard stretched across the main screen. Floating keyboard instead appears as a smaller window that can be moved. To switch back on a phone using Samsung Keyboard:
- Open Settings.
- Tap General management.
- Tap Samsung Keyboard settings.
- Tap Mode.
- Select Standard keyboard.
Samsung documents this route for its default Samsung Keyboard. Menu names and available settings can differ by device and country; if you use Gboard or another keyboard app, check that app’s settings instead. See Samsung’s phone keyboard settings guide.
Switch keyboard mode on a Samsung tablet
When the keyboard is open in a text field, tap Expand (the three-dot control), then Modes, then Standard keyboard. Samsung’s tablet instructions list Standard, Floating, and Split as available modes; the exact controls may vary with the tablet and software. If a bubble appears above each tapped letter
A brief enlarged character above a key is Character preview, not the floating keyboard layout. A Samsung Community reply for the Galaxy A52s gives this route: Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings > Swipe and touch feedback > Touch feedback > Character preview, then turn the option off. This path comes from a community answer rather than current official instructions, so labels or availability may differ on your device. The reply is in the Galaxy A52s keyboard pop-up discussion.

Browser ads and app ads are separate from keyboard modes. For Samsung Internet, Samsung’s instructions use Menu > Settings > Privacy dashboard > Block pop-ups. In Chrome, look under Settings > Site settings > Pop-ups and redirects. If ads appear outside the browser, Samsung says third-party apps may be responsible and recommends using Safe mode to help identify recently installed or updated apps.
