How do I cancel the self-clean cycle?
First identify the controls your oven has, then use the instruction for its exact model. Samsung says controls vary between knob and touchscreen models and directs owners to the user manual for model-specific operation (Samsung’s oven-cleaning guidance).

- OFF/CLEAR button: Samsung documents this control for certain NE63 range models. On the covered NE63*811* family, OFF/CLEAR cancels oven operations other than the clock and timer; it is not a universal instruction for every Samsung oven (NE63 range control information).
- CANCEL button: The Samsung/Dacor DOB30T977DS manual says to tap CANCEL to interrupt self-clean. Samsung South Africa also gives CANCEL instructions for certain gas-range models, so check the manual for your model and region (DOB30T977DS manual; Samsung South Africa gas-range guidance).
- Selector knobs: The Samsung/Dacor DOP30T940DS manual says to turn the mode selector knobs to Off to stop self-clean (DOP30T940DS manual).
If you do not know the model, find its model number on the appliance label and look up the matching manual on Samsung’s support site. Do not assume a button sequence from another Samsung oven applies to yours.
Why is the oven door still locked?
Canceling the cycle stops the cleaning operation, but it does not make a hot oven safe to open. The automatic lock stays engaged until the cavity cools to the point specified for that model. Wait for the lock indicator to clear and follow the manual’s instructions; do not force the door. Samsung warns that forcing it can damage the door-locking system, and opening a hot oven can expose you to heat or steam (Samsung oven self-clean safety guidance).

Temperature figures are model-specific, not a single threshold for all Samsung ovens. Samsung’s US safety guidance says the door remains locked until the cycle is canceled and the temperature falls below 350°F for the covered guidance. The DOP30T940DS manual specifies below 400°F (205°C) for that model. Use your own manual and lock indicator rather than applying either figure to another oven.
On the Samsung/Dacor DOB30T977DS double oven, the manual says both doors lock when either oven runs self-clean. Do not assume the unused oven door will remain available during the cycle.

What if the controls do not respond or the door stays locked?
Samsung’s general locked-door troubleshooting recommends allowing the oven to cool, powering the range on, checking whether its buttons work, and then power-cycling at the circuit breaker if needed. Some models may keep the door locked when the range is powered off (Samsung oven-door troubleshooting).

- Turn the range on and check whether the display and controls respond.
- If the controls remain unresponsive, switch the oven’s circuit breaker off for 60 seconds, then restore power. Samsung gives this as its power-cycle interval; it is not a cooling time.
- If the door remains locked after cooling and these checks, contact Samsung service rather than forcing it.
If smoke is why you need to stop the cycle
Use the model’s prescribed cancel or off control and keep away from the hot, locked door while the oven cools. Follow the safety instructions in your oven’s manual. Samsung advises against using commercial oven cleaners or oven liners during self-clean and specifies that cookware, probes, foil, and certain racks should not be left inside. Its safety guidance also notes that some birds are highly sensitive to fumes from the cycle (Samsung self-clean safety guidance).
