To test whether a content blocker is causing a page or feature to fail, open Samsung Internet, tap its three-line Menu or three-dot Tools button, choose Ad blockers, and switch off the installed blocker. Open the browser menu. Depending on the version, it may be labeled Menu and shown as three horizontal lines, or labeled Tools and shown as three vertical dots. Samsung’s support instructions use both names, so look for the icon as well as the label.

Tap Ad blockers. This opens the browser’s list of compatible ad-blocker apps, if any are available for use with Samsung Internet.

Turn off the switch beside the installed blocker. If more than one is listed, switch them off one at a time when practical; that makes it easier to tell which one affects the page. If the issue is urgent, you can switch off the listed blockers and test, then restore them afterward if you want their filters back.

Return to the affected page and reload it. Retry the particular function that was failing, rather than assuming the setting change fixed it simply because the page opened.

Samsung Electronics America describes ad blockers in its browser as apps that prevent ads from appearing while browsing. Samsung’s developer guide explains that compatible blocker apps supply filters that Samsung Internet applies while rendering web pages. The control is therefore browser-scoped: it changes filtering in Samsung Internet, not a universal ad-blocking switch for every app on a Galaxy phone.
Turning off a blocker is a reversible troubleshooting test, not a guarantee that the blocker caused the failure. If the site works after you disable it, the change may have allowed content or page elements through that the filter had prevented from loading. If nothing changes, the blocker may not be the cause. You can turn it back on and investigate the site or browser separately.
Choose the setting that matches what is broken
Samsung Internet has separate controls for page content and pop-up windows. A missing page element, a button that does nothing, and an action that is supposed to open a new window are not necessarily the same problem. Use the symptom to choose what to test instead of turning off unrelated settings:

The first row is the right starting point when the problem is a page being rendered in Samsung Internet: for example, a site section or feature is absent or does not behave as expected. The second row is more specific. If a site action is meant to open a separate window, changing the content blocker may not address the setting that is stopping that window. The third row is not a reason to turn off Samsung Internet’s blocker: that control does not govern ads displayed by other apps or on the Home screen.
If the site needs a pop-up window
A page content blocker and the browser’s pop-up control are different settings. If a site is waiting for a new window—for example, after you tap a button—changing the content blocker may not help. In Samsung Internet, open Menu, tap Settings, then Privacy dashboard, and switch off Block pop-ups. Retry the action that needs the window.
Use this setting only when the missing behavior appears to depend on a pop-up. You do not need to disable an installed ad blocker just because a site is trying to open a separate window, and you do not need to turn off pop-up blocking to test a page filter. These controls address different browser behaviors.
Samsung warns that pop-ups can pose a potential malware risk and that allowing them can increase the number of ads displayed while browsing. A pop-up that appears unexpected or suspicious should not be treated as safe just because you changed the setting to complete a task. If you turned Block pop-ups off temporarily, consider switching it back on after you have finished the action that required the window.
If you cannot find Ad blockers

Check that you opened Samsung Internet’s own menu, not a menu inside the affected website or another browser. The Ad blockers entry belongs to Samsung Internet’s browser controls.

Look for either the three-line Menu icon or the three-dot Tools icon. Samsung’s support instructions use both labels, so the wording and icon can differ by version.

If the Ad blockers item is present but no blocker is listed, there may be no compatible blocker installed and enabled for Samsung Internet. The menu manages blockers that can work with this browser; it is not a list of every app on the phone that may show advertisements.

Do not assume that the setting is missing because you need to buy a blocker. Samsung says some optional ad blockers may cost money, but disabling a blocker that is already installed does not require a purchase. No physical product or repair part is needed for this settings change.
Samsung’s developer documentation says the feature depends on compatible ad-blocker apps and app-store availability. Its platform notes list Samsung Internet for Android 4.0 and later, while also noting store-related restrictions for some devices. Compatibility and availability can therefore affect what appears in the browser’s list. If no compatible blocker is available there, there may be no installed blocker switch to change.

After each change, reload the same page and retry the same feature; otherwise it is difficult to tell whether the setting changed anything.
If ads show up outside Samsung Internet
The browser’s Ad blockers setting controls filters used for pages in Samsung Internet. It is not a master switch for advertisements in other Android apps or on the Home screen. Samsung Electronics America’s troubleshooting guidance says pop-up ads may appear in browser windows, separate tabs, other apps, or on the Home screen, and that they are often associated with a third-party app installed recently.
If the unwanted ads appear beyond Samsung Internet, investigate that possibility rather than changing the browser’s page filters. Use Samsung’s Safe mode troubleshooting approach to check whether a third-party app is involved. The purpose is to investigate the possible role of third-party apps, not to change Samsung Internet’s ad-blocker setting.

Review apps that were installed or updated shortly before the ads began. The timing is a clue to consider, not proof that any one app is responsible.

Uninstall a likely cause, then check whether the unwanted ads stop. If the ads continue, reassess other recently installed or updated apps rather than assuming the first change solved the problem.
The exact Safe mode entry procedure and screen labels can vary by Galaxy model and software version. Follow the instructions for your device rather than relying on a single set of button presses that may not match your phone. Also distinguish an ad in a Samsung Internet tab from an ad that overlays another app or appears on the Home screen: the browser’s Ad blockers menu addresses only the former browser-filtering question.

Switching off the blocker removes its page filters from Samsung Internet. That can let a site load content or page elements the filter previously prevented from appearing, but it can also allow more advertising content through. It does not promise that every broken website feature will work, because a blocker is only one possible explanation for a failure.

You can leave the blocker disabled or turn it back on after using the site, depending on whether you prefer the site’s behavior or the blocker’s filtering. If the page still does not work, switch the blocker back on if you want its filters and continue troubleshooting the site or browser.

Keep the scope in mind while interpreting the result. A change in Samsung Internet says something about web pages rendered in that browser. It does not establish why advertisements are appearing inside another app or on the Home screen. Likewise, turning off Block pop-ups tests whether a new window was being blocked; it is not the same as disabling content filters.
Samsung Electronics America’s support articles, “Use Ad blockers in Samsung Browser on your Galaxy phone or tablet” and “Manage pop-up ads on your Galaxy phone,” describe these browser controls and the separate device-level troubleshooting path. Samsung Developer’s “Ad Blockers Development Guide” explains that compatible blocker apps supply filters for Samsung Internet. Samsung Newsroom US discussed Galaxy privacy and third-party ad blockers in 2024; that context does not change the distinction between the browser setting and other apps on the phone.
