On a Mac, turn Grammarly off in Safari > Settings (or Preferences) > Extensions. To remove it, use Safari’s Uninstall control if it appears, or quit Grammarly for Safari and move its app from Finder’s Applications folder to Trash. iPhone and iPad use separate steps.

Turn Grammarly off without removing it on a Mac

  1. Open Safari and choose Safari > Settings. On some versions, the menu says Preferences.
  2. Select Extensions.
  3. Find Grammarly and turn off its checkbox.

This disables the extension without deleting it, so you can switch it back on later. Apple’s general instructions explain how to turn off Safari extensions: Use Safari extensions on your Mac.

If Grammarly still appears on another Apple device

Safari extensions may be shared across devices, but removing an extension on one device does not uninstall it from all of them. Check Safari’s extension settings on each Mac, iPhone, or iPad where Grammarly is installed. Apple explains extension sharing and device-by-device management in Use Safari extensions on your Mac.
