Samsung washer sound controls vary by model: some have a dedicated Sound or Alarm Off button, others hide the control in a panel menu or SmartThings, and some do not support sound changes at all. Start with the exact model’s user manual, then use the matching control below.
Find the sound control for your model
Check the washer’s control panel and the user manual for your exact model and market. Samsung says that if the manual has no instructions for turning sounds off, the model does not have that feature. Controls and menu paths are not universal.

Dedicated button or secondary button function
Look for a button labeled Sound, Alarm Off or Sound Off, or for a crossed-speaker or bell icon. Some models use one of these as a dedicated control. On others, the sound function is printed as a secondary label beside a button such as Super Speed, Extra Rinse or, on some Canadian models, Temp. When the manual identifies a secondary sound function, Samsung’s US and Canada instructions say to hold that button for three seconds. Use the label and action specified for your washer rather than trying a combination at random. Samsung US: Adjust alarm sounds and chimes; Samsung Canada: Control alarm sounds and chimes.

Samsung’s UK instructions for its AI Panel models say to hold Options for five seconds, turn the dial to Alarm settings, and press the O control to toggle the alarm. Samsung India describes a different AI Panel sequence: hold the option control for three seconds, select Alarm with the Navigation dial, then choose On or Off. These are regional, model-specific examples—not interchangeable instructions. Samsung UK instructions (updated 2022-01-27); Samsung India instructions (updated 2024-08-30).

Panel menu on LED Panel models
For the LED Panel models covered by Samsung UK, hold Spin and Options together for five seconds, then check the alarm indicator. Confirm the sequence in your model’s manual before using it; panel combinations differ between washer families. Samsung UK instructions.
Settings on screen-equipped Bespoke models
On supported Bespoke washers with a screen, open Settings and look for Sounds. Depending on the model, the menu may offer Sound mode, Sound theme and Volume, rather than a single mute toggle. Sound settings in SmartThings
If your washer supports it, connect it to SmartThings, open the washer’s appliance card and scroll down to its settings. Depending on the model, you may see a Sounds switch, a volume slider or an option to choose an end-of-cycle alarm. A switch turns sound on or off; a slider adjusts volume. These controls do not appear on every connected washer. If you cannot find them, check the panel or your model’s manual. Samsung US guidance; Samsung Canada guidance.
Which sounds will be muted?
The alarm or sound setting can silence the cycle-completion melody and power-off sound on supported models; some models also suppress AddWash alarms. It does not necessarily silence every sound the washer makes.

- Samsung India says Child Lock notifications remain active.
- Samsung’s Laundry Combo manual notes that Mute does not disable alert sounds retained for safety purposes.

Use the same button or menu setting to toggle the alarm or sound back on. Samsung UK says the setting remains in effect after a restart for the models covered by its instructions; Samsung India also documents persistence after restart.
