Stop follow-up alerts or Critical Alerts separately
Follow-up reminders
In Health > Medications > Options, switch off Follow Up Reminders to stop later alerts when you have not logged a dose. Apple says a follow-up reminder may arrive 30 minutes after the scheduled time.
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
Critical Alerts
To stop the special alert behavior, go to Settings > Apps > Health > Notifications and switch off Critical Alerts. Apple says Critical Alerts can appear on the Lock Screen and play a sound even when Focus is on or iPhone is muted. This control is separate: turning it off does not, by itself, disable scheduled dose reminders.
Apple describes both controls in its Track your medications in Health on iPhone guide.

Change one medication’s schedule without changing all reminders
If you want to change when a particular medication is scheduled, open it in Health > Medications and edit its Schedule. Use this only when the schedule itself should change; turning off Dose Reminders is the direct option if you want scheduled alerts off generally.

Keep medication history intact
You do not need to remove a medication to silence its reminders. Apple distinguishes archiving from deleting: archiving takes a medication off the active list while preserving its details and log history, whereas deleting removes its information and history. Leave the record in place and change the reminder setting unless you specifically intend to alter or remove that record. See Apple’s medication instructions for the distinction.

Labels and availability can vary
Apple’s guide dated September 15, 2026 describes Dose Reminders under Health > Medications > Options. The entry point to Medications may be labeled Search or Browse in different interfaces, so use the Medications section and its Options control as landmarks. Apple also notes that some Health medication features are unavailable in some countries or regions.
Apple’s support article says cyclical and specific-days schedules require iOS 18 or later, iPadOS 18 or later, and watchOS 11 or later. That requirement applies to those schedule types; it does not establish that the basic Dose Reminders switch requires those versions.
