To stop Pokémon GO Gift alerts, turn off notifications for the app in your phone’s settings. On iPhone, use Settings → Notifications → Pokémon GO and switch off Allow Notifications. On Android, open Pokémon GO’s notification settings and turn notifications off; some devices may also offer categories, but a separate Gift category is not confirmed.
What happens when you turn off Pokémon GO notifications?
Pokémon GO can notify you about friend Gift activity. Niantic says a friend receives a notification when you send them a Gift, and that you receive a notification when a friend sends one. The documented phone settings below control notifications for the app, rather than just Gifts.

The official Pokémon GO materials cited here do not document a dedicated in-game switch for ordinary friend Gift notifications. If your phone offers notification categories for Pokémon GO, you can check whether a relevant category is available, but its presence is not established for every device or app version.
Turn off Gift notifications on iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Notifications, then Pokémon GO.
- Turn off Allow Notifications.
This disables Pokémon GO notifications at the app level, not only Gift alerts. Apple notes that some apps let you customize notification types, but those controls depend on the app. Apple’s iPhone notification instructions describe the app-level route.

Turn off Gift notifications on Android
- Open your phone’s Settings.
- Tap Notifications or App notifications, then select Pokémon GO. The exact labels vary by device and Android version.
- Turn off notifications for the app. If your device shows notification categories, review them for a category relevant to the alert and disable it if available.
On supported devices, you can also touch and hold a Pokémon GO notification, open its notification settings, and switch off the app or a category. Android category controls depend on the device and app; Google’s guidance does not establish that Pokémon GO has a separate Gift category. See Google’s Android notification instructions.
Sponsored Gifts are a separate setting
Niantic has a setting called Show sponsored messages from third-party advertising services. Turning it off opts out of sponsored messages; it is not the control for notifications about Gifts sent by friends. Niantic states that this setting “does not affect your ability to obtain Gifts from Gyms or PokéStops to send to your friends.” See Niantic’s Sponsored Gifts explanation.

| iPhone: Pokémon GO → Allow Notifications | Pokémon GO notifications at the app level | Use this to stop alerts from the app. |

Niantic’s Sending & Receiving Gifts help page describes friend Gift notifications but does not document a Gift-only notification switch.
