The steps depend on your device: Windows lets you disable the touchscreen in Device Manager, while iPhone and iPad can ignore touch during a Guided Access session. Google’s general Chromebook guidance does not provide a universal way to switch off touchscreen input, so the exact model matters.
Windows 10 and Windows 11: Disable the touchscreen in Device Manager
Microsoft documents a reversible device-level setting for both Windows 10 and Windows 11. Disabling the touchscreen does not turn off the display or disable a separate touchpad.

Windows 11 tablet mode is not a touchscreen switch
Windows 11 adjusts its interface for tablet use automatically according to the device’s form factor or keyboard connection. Microsoft says there is no manual tablet-mode on/off toggle in Windows 11. Changing tablet behavior does not disable touch input; use Device Manager for that. See Microsoft’s tablet mode guidance.
iPhone and iPad: Ignore touches during Guided Access
Apple’s Guided Access feature is a temporary, session-based option. It can keep a device in one app and ignore touches across the screen, or you can mark specific areas that should not respond. It is not a persistent global touchscreen switch.

Chromebook: There is no verified universal off procedure
Google’s general Chromebook touchscreen guidance covers gestures and troubleshooting for a touchscreen that is not working; it does not provide a general procedure for disabling working touchscreen input. Google’s instructions for turning off a Chromebook touchpad apply to a different input device and will not disable the touchscreen.

For model-specific options, identify the Chromebook model and check whether it is managed by a school or workplace. Management policies can affect which settings are available. Without those details, a universal touchscreen-disable path is not established by Google’s guidance. Avoid relying on old Chrome flags or developer-mode commands as general instructions.
