To turn off a Galaxy Z Flip6, press and hold the Side button and Volume Down together, tap Power off, then confirm if prompted. Turn off the phone with its buttons
- Press and hold the Side button and Volume Down button at the same time until the power menu appears.
- Tap Power off.
- If a confirmation prompt appears, tap Power off again.

Use the on-screen power menu
- Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notification panel or Quick settings. Samsung describes opening Quick settings with a two-finger swipe; the Z Flip6 manual describes opening the notification panel and swiping down to the power icon.
- Tap the Power icon.
- Select Power off, then confirm if asked.
Samsung’s general Galaxy phone and tablet instructions also describe this menu route. The exact panel layout can vary.

The Side button’s press-and-hold action may be set to launch Bixby instead of showing the power menu. Use Side + Volume Down to open the menu, or change the press-and-hold action in settings.

On the Z Flip6, the manual gives this route: Settings → Advanced features → Side button → Press and hold → Power off menu. Samsung’s general support instructions describe the Side button setting under Settings → Advanced features → Side button; available options vary by device.
If the Galaxy Z Flip is frozen
A frozen phone may not respond to the normal on-screen shutdown steps. Holding Side + Volume Down in this situation is a forced recovery action: it may restart the phone rather than leave it powered off.
The Z Flip6 manual says to hold the buttons for more than seven seconds to restart a frozen device. Samsung’s general troubleshooting guidance for a Galaxy phone or tablet that will not turn off says the process may take up to 60 seconds on some models. Follow the timing in the manual for your specific model.
